OK, now drinking Prairie's 2016 Christmas Bomb. Pours an opaque dark black with little head. Aroma is of dark roasted chocolate malts, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and coffee. Flavor is of sweet milk chocolate, dark chocolate malts, vanilla, coffee, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a very soft carbonation. Overall Rating: A+
Cocoa brown ale is the last one from my Blue Moon winter pack. Not as chocolaty as I would hope. Really no distinctive flavor. Thick for a mass produced beer but typical watered down flavored brown ale.
Man, I got fucked up Friday night and passed out not long after the Christmas Bomb review. I drank five 16 oz cans of the Grimm (8% ABV), then the 12 oz bottle of the Christmas Bomb (11% ABV). I should have stopped after the Grimm because the bomb sent me way over. I must have laid down on the couch a little after 1:30, and when I awoke it was 5:30. While I don't remember much, I know I was still wasted and went to bed after that and slept until noon. I felt like shit all day yesterday, and last night at work. Now I am getting a cold sore on my lips. I simply cannot tolerate alcohol like I could when I was younger. I definitely need to cut back after the holidays, even though I usually only drink 2 times per week max.
Picked up stones winter pack. Had a ruination and on a coffee milk stout now. The milk stout is good except for a slight burnt tobacco taste mixed in with a very smooth milk stout taste.
It would be pretty fun to do a beer swap where we all mail each other beer from our local breweries that arent distributed nationally. I'm horrible at organizing things but if someone else feels like planning it, i'm in!
Yeah i was unimpressed with everything in the winter pack, but I didnt expect much from Blue Moon anyways
If it just said (blue moon brown ale) it would have been exactly what I expected. Don't add cocoa to your name if there is no cocoa flavor in your beer.
True, i didnt taste cocoa at all The cinnamon horchata on the other hand...waaay too much cinnamon, there was no subtle blending of flavors there
Yeah I never mentioned that one. It reminded me of the cinnamon apple cider my sister makes during the holidays if the cider part was way way way watered down. I like the cinnamon taste but you have to be in the mood for it even if you like it.
If I can find anyone in here from Mass who is willing to send or trade for some Treehouse beers, I will be your friend forever.
I just found two bottles of Brooklyn Blast from 2011. I'm not so sure I want to know how these have aged over 5-6 years.
My neice is going to school in the area. I assume I will see her for Xmas. But she isn't a beer drinker. I would need specifics if I was gonna ask her to look for something.
I have yet to have a bomber of Brooklyn that I was happy with. I am sticking with monster and chocolate stout from them.
You actually have to go to their brewery to obtain their beers. In case you aren't aware, Treehouse is perhaps the most acclaimed brewery in the United States, if not the entire world.
I heard people talk about it. Nobody ever said you have to go to the brewery to get it. I would have to turn in too many favors to make that worthwhile but her boyfriends family are well off so I will at least mention it.
Drinking the vanilla bean by stone now. Really it's a perfect beer for the style. Slight vanilla and slight caramel and chocolate notes. OK not perfect but the best beer with vanilla that I can recall.
This is my first time hearing about it - i looked it up and this looks like it could be a difficult feat. And also sounds delicious. I would love to try the barrel aged
It is incredibly delicious. You can actually find it around here, but it is extremely limited and sells out almost immediately. I would highly recommended just about any of Westbrook's beers, especially their gose and key lime pie gose. Westbrook is probably the most highly regarded craft brewery out of SC.
