It was fine that I skipped that place. Instead I stopped at the wine rack and got a 6 of Sierra Nevada octoberfest. I prefer it out of the bottle compared to in a pint glass.
Got a case of Rockdale light. It's the best cheap light lager I ever had...although I remember beer30 light wasn't to bad. Saying it's the best dosnt mean it's good. But it does have a pleasant malty taste.
Drinking Double Dose IPA, a collaboration beer between Otter Creek Brewing out of Vermont, and Lawson's Finest Liquids, also out of Vermont -- the latter being the makers of the world-class Sip of Sunshine IPA. The beer I am reviewing is brewed annually in the fall. It scores a 95 on BeerAdvocate, so I have pretty high expectations going into this beer. 8.5% ABV Pours a beautifully deep, cloudy orange color with lots of sediment noted floating around when held to the light. The head is nicely thick and creamy. Aroma is somewhat restrained compared to the taste, but very nice nevertheless. I am getting lots of juicy citrus (orange, lemon, pineapple, grapefruit, peach, apricot), as well as some floral notes. A good amount of dank pine resin, too, along with some fresh cut grass and some earthy, herbal aromas. In the taste there is a good amount of citrus and pine hops competing for dominance. Overall this is a very bitter "hop bomb" type of beer that is far from subtle. I generally don't like beers like this, but this one is rather nice in its intense hop punch. I really like some of the flavors that kick in towards the middle and finish of this beer. Lots of dank, tropical citrus combined with a lot of dank, resinous pine, with a pretty noticeable sweet caramel/toffee malt backbone, as well as some nice earthy flavors in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, rather creamy, and with a decent amount of carbonation. Finish is on the dry side, but not overtly. Overall a great beer, but perhaps not as great as others seem to think. Still, I will give this an A to A-
I am now drinking a beer I have had several times before but have not yet reviewed. This is one of my all-time favorite IPA's -- albeit a session IPA. This is Billy 18 Watt IPA from the outstanding Singlecut Beersmiths out of NYC. 5% ABV. Bottling date: 9/21/16 Pours an absolutely beautifully cloudy, murky, almost milky opaque yellow-orange with lots of sediment when held up to the light. Classic New England style IPA appearance to this beer. Aroma is of sweet tangerine, grapefruit and mango, along with some floral and grassy notes and some faint bready malts. Flavor-wise there is lots of orange and grapefruit, some pine resin, some floral, earthy hops, and well as some faint malts. Very juicy, and not overly bitter. Mouthfeel is medium but still pretty light and with a fair amount of carbonation. Overall rating: A+
got the yeungling octoberfest you were raving about. very good. but strange flavors, i am gonna save them for when i am not eating. the food seems to make the taste change by the sip.
Now drinking The Juice from Peak Organic out of Maine -- a dry-hopped pale ale. 5.6% ABV Poured from a 16 oz. can into my tulip glass a hazy golden yellow-orange with about one finger of head which fades to leave a fair amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma is very juicy as the name suggests. Lots of citrus, namely pithy tropical fruits. I am getting notes of pineapple, passionfruit, guava, mango and papaya. Also some earthy and herbal aromas (lemongrass), and some faint phenolic notes along with some faint crackery malts. Flavor-wise there is a nice sharp bitterness upfront. The juicy citrus flavors of orange, pineapple and guava combines with some pine resin and slightly sweet, bready malts. This is a very refreshing beer with a clean, crisp mouthfeel. There is a fairly assertive carbonation to this relatively light-medium bodied beer. The finish is semi-dry. Overall rating: A-
just finished the octoberfest, now all i have left is a couple of those watered down light beers i got last week.
I did that a few weeks ago actually. I also had a mickeys like two nights ago, a 40 ounce plastic bottle but it was cold
guy at work gave me a couple of these, he said he didnt like them. unusual that I drink something this early but I only have two of them. BA give this a score of 97. taste like top soil, kinda earthy and grassy. I dont know .. its meh' Id buy it if I seen it. little like dogfish namaste. seems more a summer beer, i guess dude had them this summer.
You might not get them if you saw the price. I used to make beer and the best one I ever made tasted exactly like that. I was not a fan of it. I was looking to make a more citrusy taste with the one I made. But I failed to get what I wanted.
