Hey fuckerz! I'mma drankin again! Well, I have been already. Like, I have about 1/4 of this bottle left in my glass: (Alc. 9.2%) Smell: Oak, dark chocolate, molasses... all with an oatmeal twang. Taste: Bitter, smokey dark chocolate... with a pinch. Overall, a strong brew that probably shouldn't be as cold as I've got it.
Actually, I have to be honest... that wasn't my pic. In fact, none of my pics are. Every beer pic I post is just something I find in Google Images. Now, that being said, I am from the shore area and have been thinking about applying for a job at Beach Haus. I'm down around like, Pt. Pleasant and Seaside area. And all of that being said... I barely ever go out drinking. I usually just pick up some brews from a local liquor store and get smashed at home. (No driving, no way over-priced beer... clean bathroom.. lol) But hey, I'd be up for a friendly in-person gathering of whoever wants to go!
if i can get around a work and family schedule...next time i plan a trip up there i will mention it. i dont drink out much any more either, usually just taste the stuff i never had, then get a growler of the best there is to offer.
I hear ya. I have family schedules to work around, too. (Not so much work, since I'm unemployed atm) But yeah, definitely let me know when you'll be around!
Drinking Pulse Wave from Grimm, a double IPA clocking in at 8% ABV. Pours a hazy amber orange color with about two inches of off white head. On the aroma it's lots of resiny pine mixed with tropical fruits. DANK! Lots of orange and lemon rind, pineapple, grapefruit, passionfruit, mango and peach. An earthy grassy/herbal quality present also, courtesy of Equinox hops. Flavorwise, it's much of the same. Very dank, with lots of resiny pine and tropical citrus (pineapple, grapefruit, orange). Juicy, too, with lots of earthy complexities which are both herbal and spice-like. Mouthfeel of this beer, like all of Grimm's beers, is outstanding -- very smooth and velvety with a soft carbonation. Medium bodied with a slight amount of slickness. Overall rating: A
Now it's Lambo Door, also from Grimm, and also another double IPA. Pours a cloudy orange-gold color with about an inch and a half of head. Aroma is of sweet tropical fruits with pineapple, peach, orange and mango dominating. Some floral notes and some sweetness from the malts as well. Flavor is, again, very tropical fruit forward with peach, orange and mango. There is a nice sweet caramel and bready malt backbone. Mouthfeel is super smooth and soft with a medium body, medium carbonation, and slightly chewy. This is one top-notch IPA! Overall rating: A+
i should get a fancy picture of my milwalkees best ice in a tulip glass...i am slumming it this week. taking a trip next week so i see a micro in my future but until then its nasty ice and the like
Drinking Tropic Punch Ale, a Swedish sour ale which is a collaboration between Stillwater Artisanal and Dugges Ale & Porterbryggeri out of Sweden. 4.5% ABV This is a sour/wild ale brewed with mango, passion fruit and peach, fermented with lactobacillus. Pours a hazy straw color with little to no head. As the name of the beer suggests, the nose of this beer is just teaming with tropical fruit aromas, namely the aforementioned ones listed above. Some lactic sourness as well, along with some musty aromas. Very juice-like smelling brew. Flavor is very tart upfront, but is matched by the sweetness of the intense tropical fruit flavors, namely passionfruit. There is also a nice, slightly residual funk. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean with a pronounced acidity and fairly assertive carbonation. The finish is rather dry. All an all, an incredible sour -- one of the best I have had to date. Overall rating: A+
This is Syrligt, another Swedish sour which is also a collaboration between Stillwater and Dugges. Also 4.5% ABV It is brewed with rhubarb and ligonberry. This one pours more of a golden honey color with a fast-fading 1/2 inch of head. Most prominent in the nose is the rhubarb, followed by a citrus lemon zest and a funky, lactic sourness. This is an incredibly sour sour -- one of the most sour beers I have had to date... in a good way! Tons of puckery lactic sourness upon first sip, coupled with some citric lemon, with the rhubarb and ligonberry coming in mid-palate. Body is light with a medium level of carbonation, but overall extremely tart and quite dry as well. VERY refreshing and crisp! Overall rating: A
Now I am drinking what is considered one of the best and most sought-after East Coast American IPAs, this is Lunch from Maine Beer Company. This one sold out within just a couple hours. 7% ABV with a bottling date of 9/20/16, making this beer not even two weeks old. Poured into my Delirum Tremens tulip glass a hazy golden-orange with a two-finger head. Lots of pine and grassy, herbal notes in the nose, along with some tropical citrus, namely orange and grapefruit. Very DANK and RESINOUS! Taste is again very dank and resinous, with a good amount of pine balanced with a good amount of tropical citrus, along with some herbal and floral hops. A decent caramel-malt backbone as well. The mouth feel of this beer is incredible, and is perhaps what makes this beer so special. It is so smooth and soft. The body is medium and crisp with a dry finish. Overall rating: A+ This is one of the best IPA's I have had to date!!
I am now drinking the newly released Splish from Grimm Artisanal Ales. I also had this beer on tap last night at the Blu Wolf Bistro in Rochester, NY. 8% ABV, canned on 9/20/16 From Grimm's website: This one right here! Galaxy, Motueka, Wai-iti, and Falconer’s Flight, a bit of oats in the grist… Big lime pith and tropical fruit, creamy body, balanced lingering bitterness. One of our favorite new hoppy offerings. Fuck, Grimm is incredible. Every single beer they release is world class. These husband/wife gypsy brewers really know what they doing when it comes to making beer. Pours a hazy dark orange color.with about an inch and a half of head. Aroma is of tropical fruits and melon. Some lemon, lime, grapefruit, honey and black pepper noted. Some sweet, bready caramel malts as well. Flavor is, again, extremely dank and resinous.... lots of pine coupled with sweet tropical fruits and melon, earthy/herbal grass, black pepper, and some sweet malts. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, slick, creamy and with a fairly lingering finish. Ultimately a very soft and lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Overall rating: A
i said i wasnt gonna do it and i meant it. but my mom asked me to pick her up some things at the store and while i was there i saw the fall sam adams was out...and it actually looked good. first one is Toasted caramel bock. somehow it is actually too sweet, and i like sweet beers. some good caramel flavor in there though. very drinkable, and smells just like it tastes except not as strong.
