Has anyone ever tried Banana Bread Beer? I picked up a bottle on a whim this evening. I'm not even the biggest fan of beer (it bloats my stomach like nobody's business) but I am a big fan of banana's (I eat 2 - 3 a day) so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not even sure if i'll drink it tonight, but then again, my curiosity might get the better of me. We'll see.
Is it the one made by Wells? If so, I've had it and found it be pretty unremarkable. It's not terrible, but not great either. It's been a while since I've had it, though. I think people who are new to craft beers might enjoy it more as it is something different.
Yep, it is the Wells brew. Good to know that you found it "unremarkable". Maybe i'll wait and share it the next time I have friends over. That way, if I don't like it, it won't go to waste.
It seems to get pretty mixed reviews. I just checked on BeerAdvocate and it scores an 80, which is considered "good." Some people give it very favorable reviews, while some are not so favorable. I guess it all boils down to what you like. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/664/5488/
I like the banana bread beer. Usually runs at least $4. I don't like it that much....I will still get it on a rare occasion. I wouldn't compare it to bananas though. If you ever had entenmanns banana crunch cake....that's the flavor I get...but its kind of light on the flavor.
Dude, make up your fucking mind. Either you like it or you don't. "I like the banana bread beer," followed by "I don't like it that much." hahaha
Damn! I better get my homework done, so I can drink with ya'll. I'll even have the house to myself for the entire night
My mind is made up and perfectly clear. I said I like it. But for $4. A bottle there are many things out there that I like more. Hence I don't like it THAT much. Before the boom in microbreweries in the area I would buy cases of it. That was a long time ago though.
I have been thinking about getting a 12 pack of Blue Moon ale they sell at target here. Is that any good? I am not much into hard liquor anymore...never really did like the taste of anything too strong....but I like the idea of one ale put in the freezer for about 15 minutes, so it is icy cold before i go to sleep once in awhile. have not had anything in so long now.
When ICY cold a Blue Moon Ale is the perfect thing to chill with Moonglow! Have a happy evening all~!
I thought Blue Moon was good when I was first getting into beer other than Heineken, Molson and Labatt, which is the beer I started off drinking back in my late teens and early 20s. I would say Blue Moon is a step up from those beers, but not much more than that. If you're a casual, infrequent beer drinker and haven't had many beers other than standard macro lagers, then I suppose Blue Moon isn't that bad, but after having had so many much better beers, I couldn't see ever drinking Blue Moon again except maybe if it was offered to me for free at a party and nothing else was available. For its style (witbier), it's at the bottom of the ladder. But again, if you're not really a beer connoisseur, I suppose it's not that bad. I personally wouldn't drink it, though.
Ok, tomorrow i will try to go to target. Wish I had one for tonight...oh, well....Thanks for answering. The name of it sounds good...Blue moon....
I just cracked open this bottle of Present Perfect by Grimm. It is a Berliner weisse ale brewed with passionfruit, conditioned on oak, and dry-hopped with Tettanger hops. It has a rather low ABV at only 4%, as is typical of Berliner weissbiers, which generally run around 3-4% ABV. This is a limited edition release and will be brewed only once. It was literally just released this past week. The bottle recommends the beer be consumed in a tulip or wine glass, so I am using my trusty Delirium Tremens tulip glass. Traditionally this style of beer is consumed in either a chalice-type stemmed glass, or a bowl glass made specifically for Berliner weissbiers. Pours a cloudy, bright yellow straw color (almost like lemonade), with a small white head that quickly fades. The aroma of this beer is incredible and smells pretty much like straight up passionfruit. There is also some wheat, oak, lime and grapefruit, as well as some very faint earthy/grassy hops noted. The beer hits you upfront with an immense tartness. Lots of passionfruit, grapefruit and lemon with some oakiness on the finish. The hop presence is rather muted from the tartness of this beer, but there is an earthy flavor from the hops as well in the finish. This is a very crushable, light-bodied beer with a vibrant carbonation. Incredibly refreshing to say the least. The finish is mostly dry, but there is slight residual sweetness and tartness. Overall this is another incredible beer from my favorite gypsy brewers. Overall rating: A
