And the night isn't over. Now that I am home, I decided to crack open a few more beers. I've spent about $100+ dollars in beer over the past week. I am not exactly proud of that since I am far from rich, but hey, I am on vacation and sometimes you've just gotta enjoy life.

It is hot as fuck here in WNY, so when I got in tonight I was thirsty, and therefore decided to go for something rather light, crisp and refreshing. So in my fridge I reached for this can of Beer Geek Helles from Jack's Abby of Massachusetts. As I said once before, this craft brewery is not known so much for their ales, but for their fine crafted lagers. Indeed some of the best lagers made in America are made by Jack's Abby. This is yet another outstanding one from them, this time a Munich Helles Lager. First of all, this beer's aroma is simply amazing, with some really mild herbal notes and fruity esters. Body is light, but quite heavy for a lager, and really creamy. Lots of crackery, bready malts and some grape-like undertones from the hops. Really incredible lager with incredible drinkability and flavor.

And right now I am sipping on an awesome imperial stout from Evil Twin Brewing. This is their Imperial Biscotti Break. The can says it's an imperial stout brewed with coffee, almonds and vanilla. Wow, I can honestly says this beer is incredible, and on par with the Prairie Bomb I had last week. As this beer warms it gets even better. There is just a ton of flavor in this beer which pours as black as motor oil. The aroma of this beer is of dark chocolate and lots of roasty malts and some subtle vanilla notes. Rather boozy, too, which doesn't come as much of a surprise at 11.5% ABV. Flavor is of dark, roasted malt and chocolate, with the vanilla and almonds noticeable in the beer's rather sweet finish.

    Scores a 96 on BeerAdvocate:

If Jack's Abby is known for their incredible lagers, then Evil Twin would likely be most known for their incredible imperial stouts. This will likely be my last beer of the night. It's another beer from Evil Twin, and another imperial stout. Staying true to their hipster image, this rather oddly titled beer is called 'Even More Jesus', whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean. This beer may just be even darker than the previous. It is pure opaque black, and even the head is a dark brown. Tons of smoky malts, coffee and dark chocolate in the aroma. Mouthfeel is very rich and creamy, especially as the beer warms. Lots of roasted malts, chocolate and even some tobacco in the flavor, with the alcohol somewhat pronounced in the finish. Another very potent beer at 12% ABV.

Scores just slightly lower than the previous, with a 95 on BeerAdvocate...

Had a couple cheap beers because I didn't want to drive into town and the local store only has b/c/m
I found my sorry chicky that I mentioned a couple days ago in the back of the fridge so at least I have something with flavor even if it is a session ale.

FUCK, my week of drunkenness (okay, not really) is finally over.

Tonight I again went out to dinner, this time to my favorite British pub, and I had three awesome beers (all draft) while I was there. Those beers are as follows...

Grimm Telekinesis -- From the OUTSTANDING husband and wife gypsy brewing outfit known as Grimm Artisanal Ales, this is their incredible 'Telekinesis' -- a saison/farmhouse ale. This beer pours with a beautiful juice-like appearance -- a nice, cloudy yellow-orange appearance. Lots of citrus in the nose with notes of orange, passionfruit, grapefruit and nectarine with some sour funk. Taste is of tart lemon and grapefruit with some earthy hops. Body is medium and creamy. Overall an AWESOME sour ale from one of my favorite brewers. Rating : A+

OT20 Cask with Sorachi Ace Hops - This is the cask version of the house beer of The Old Toad in Rochester, NY. This beer, like most cask ales, goes down like silk. Really amazing drinkability with a smooth, barely carbonated mouthfeel. Good mix of citrus and pine hops, with a good amount of lemon zest from the Sorachi Ace hops. Rating: A

    B. Nektar Kill All the Golfers - This beer is actually a mead brewed with black tea and honey. Really quite nice, but slightly sweet with notes of tea and honey in both the aroma and flavor. My girlfriend who does not like beer loved this one. Rating: B

My final two beers of the night (and my vacation week) are as follows....

Birthday Suit Sour Raspberry Ale (23rd Anniversary) by Uinta Brewing - This is an awesome sour ale brewed with raspberry. Pours a beautiful hazy pink-orange color. Lots of sour notes combined with earthy acidic ones in the aroma. Raspberry is present but faint. Light to medium body with assertive carbonation. 6.5% ABV. Rating: B+
    [IMG]

Tart Ten by Victory Brewing - This is a STRONG sour with brettanomyces yeast and very potent at 10% ABV. Kind of an imperial sour/wild ale if you will. Aroma is sour/funk with notes of candied fruit. Taste is fruity and sour with some mild alcohol presence. Medium bodied with a lingering, somewhat sweet finish. I was not really wowed by this beer, but it was pretty good. I just don't think sours combined with high ABVs work tremendously well. Rating: B-

Cracked another stubbie of Carlton Draught. They get better the more intoxicated you get. ;)

Got devils backbone family beer project variety pack.

    First up is
Crystal-weizen ale brewed with pineapple juice.

A bit more hoppy than I expected. In fact I wasn't expecting hardly any hoppiness.
It's not bad but not what I was in the mood for. It's too hot and wanted a wheat beer. So I will say it's a disappointment but I will save the other one for when I'm cold and see what I think of it.

    Next in the pack is
Ale of two cities Amero kolsch style ale
I don't like most kolsch but this one is light and refreshing. It has as much fruitiness as the last one that had pineapple juice in it. I was expecting this to be the worst of the pack but it's better than 2 of them already.

On to space fruit pale ale
(Ale brewed with new world hops)
Your typical good fruity ipa taste.
New world hops don't seem to make this special. It is a good light beer though.
Pretty much all apricot and peach and apple taste with a slight and perfectly balanced hop presence.

The apple-achian pie stout is interesting. ...described as ale brewed with apple spice and molasses.

Stouts are my favorite style and this is my favorite one of the pack but it is not like any stout I had before....kind of.
This tastes closer to a pumpkin beer than a stout. Definite apple taste. Almost like a failed apple cinnamon cider.

The one thing I really like about this one...after having maybe a thousand different beers is I never had anything like this and I will be surprised if I have anything similar to it in the future.

I would say there is nothing wrong with that but really that is a nasty beer. I mean if you are broke there are still better choices like mickeys or colt45 or cobra

I am drinking burley oak's rude boy

I used to drink Steel Reserve back in the day. It's good if you're only looking to get fucked up at a cheap price, which two or three will do. I didn't find the taste to be all that bad at first, but the more you drink it, the nastier it gets.

The best malt liquors according to BA:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/lists/style/42/

None of them get particularly good ratings.

I've had one beer tonight, and now I am on the second.

The first was another beer from Singlecut Beersmiths (and the fifth beer from SInglecut I've had in the last two weeks). It is super fresh, having just been bottled 10 days ago. This is their 'Is This The Real Life', an IPA with a name that references 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen. Several of their IPAs reference classic rock songs ('Softly Spoken Magic Spells', 'Does Anyone Remember Laughter?'). The beer pours a beautiful cloudy orange with a one-finger head which subsides to leave a nice lacing on the glass. Lots of juicy fruit in the nose with notes of grapefruit, papaya and peach. Lots of tangerine-like citrus in the flavor, with some bready malts and slightly grassy hops. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a somewhat dry finish. It's hard to go wrong with any of Singlecut's beers. Rating: A
