Woah... no comments from today? Pretty surprising! Why? Because it's... That's the badge for checking in a beer today on Untappd. Which means it's also my one year anniversary of joining Untappd! Yay me! I think I'll drink a beer to celebrate! (Just more of my Kind Ryed that I have left over from the other night.) Plus, you know what they say...
Drinking ballast points victory at sea. And it is as good as I expected. Best beer I have had in a while which is saying something being in had a lot of different kinds in the last 6 days. Nice roasted malt flavor with chocolate notes and a decent vanilla flavor. Just the right amount of alcohol flavor/burn. (Very little) Really wish I got the 6 pack when I had the chance.
Drinking a new beer from Rogue which I saw for the first time on the shelves tonight. I was intrigued, so I picked up this 22 oz. bottle despite costing $12. It's an experimental, blended IPA made with Sumptown Coffee Roasters' cold brew coffee. I was not sure what to expect going into this beer, but am pleasantly surprised at how nicely the coffee compliments the hops in this beer. You would never think of the two mixing very well, but they do. If it didn't cost so much, I would get this again. Very nice brew, though I am not sure it's worth the price. The beer pours with a beautiful dark amber color, and the coffee notes stand out as much as the hops, making it very nicely balanced. Alcohol clocks in at 7.5% ABV.
Drinking coney island root beer. Its ok for having artificial flavors. Can't go wrong for $4. A six pack.(on sale at local beer store)
Finally drank the "beer to drink music to." By dfh. I enjoyed it. It isn't special but it's a good regular everyday beer but it isn't anything that is worth waiting for when it comes into season. A nice fruity taste and a bubblegum taste also. Pretty good. But nothing I would say...go look for this!!! So....if you see it try it. If not...no loss.
Drinking Highland brewing companies Saw-whet saison. Not a style I like but it was the only other one I never had in a mix six display. Best saison I ever had...maybe because it's the lightest one. Which wouldn't be a selling point to someone who likes that flavor. For me it was like woohoo it isn't as bad as I thought.
Drinking steak cake stout from double barley It's as good as I hoped.it's got some good chocolate notes. Very drinkable for such a heavy beer. Mouthfeel reminds me of guinness but a bit thicker. Pretty much all malts no hope taste to mention.drinking it while eating chicken fingers. A decent paring but I am gonna say it would go better with a desert.
Tonight I am drinking Duet from Alpine Beer Company, a very highly regarded IPA (7% ABV) and brewery out of San Diego, Ca. Scores a 95 on BeerAdvocate. Very nice IPA indeed. Would recommend, though rather expensive @ $16 a six-pack. Nevertheless, an excellent example of a West Coast IPA. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3120/27604/
Nut Brown Ale from Full Sail Brewing. It's good but I prefer their Amber Ale. I've been going light on my beer budget lately
Got a case of yuengling ipl. An average ipa....OK it's called a lager but I don't think many people would know it's a lager by blind tasting it. Anyway it's OK at best and not bad at worst....but 16 bucks for the case it makes a great companion to playing the xbox.
Drinking Blvck celebration by Adroit Theory Brewing. An imperial porter that is very light in feel for the style. It has strong chocolate notes compared to any other flavors but overall is very light in taste for an imperial. Mouthfeel is very carbonated for the style. No head shortly after the initial pour but there is still carbonation in there and I am almost done with it. 9.99 abv and can taste no alcohol. One of the cooler bottles I have seen. At first glance it's just black with silver writing. On closer look (and feel) there is a pentagram and globe with some davinci code type shit in there. Plus there is riddles as to the ingredients and a story on the back. Pics if I can ever get them to post here.
Tower 10 IPA from Karl Strauss brew co out of San Diego. Drinking this in honor of my hard working manager from san diego.
I keep thinking about trying this one, but was never sure about it... but this review has me thinking I should try it!
Tonight, I've been drinking: (Alc. 7.5%) Smells like: Well, it smells like a stout. Like a chocolatey, coffee-ey stout. It smells deep and thick, but smooth. It smells like a good night ahead. Tastes like: Mmmm... that's good. It is dark and thick, but smooth. The chocolate has receded into the background, while the coffee is intertwined nicely with the base stout flavor. Overall, this is an awesome beer! I can easily recommend this brew to anyone with a taste for the darker brews. Just really very tasty. And I'll leave y'all with this related pic...
