It's bad...very bad. Can't post a pic.. the file is too big. Funny thing is that it's called big rod. Coconut ale. From Miami brewing company. Nothing with coconut in the name should be sour. It tastes more like pineapple ale. There is a nice tingly mouthfeel and the tingles have a good fruity flavor but that doesn't make up for tasting sour. If I wanted this flavor I would leave an open container of dole tropical fruit punch juice in the fridge 2 months after the expiration date.
I am almost positive I just had that and it was 10%. Maybe a different batch but either way it's one of the best values in craft beer. At $4.00 here in Carolina it is my go to beer when I don't make it to an actual beer store.
No beer for me tonight. No sir. That would just be crazy... drinking beer on a Friday night! So, I just settled for this stuff I just bought a couple days ago... It's got a good burn to it when it's at room temperature. (Where "good" = "clean, clear... but damn that scorpion'll burn ya!") I'm currently chilling it to see what difference that makes. In the meantime, I'll just finish this 2nd shot I poured before I sent the bottle to the fridge. ... Time to get another shot... fuck yeah...
Ok, buzz gotten... but I think I'm done with tequila for the night. Been awhile and my stomach doesn't have the tolerance it used to. Not that it can't again... it just seems to be whispering "you probably shouldn't drink anymore" for the moment.
Was at trollingwood brewery. Got the first ever growler pour from them. It was a jalapeño ale that is very good. Very strong jalapeño taste with almost no heat. Easily their best beer so far in their young business.
Drinking Dogfish Head's Beer To Drink Music To -- a pretentious name for a beer from a pretentious, overrated brewery not worth the hype it receives. Most of Dogfish Head's beers outside of their flagship brews are overpriced failures. This one is a limited edition Belgian 9% ABV tripel made to commemorate Record Store Day. The label states it is 'a Belgian-style ale brewed with sweet orange peel, green cardamom, peppercorn & vanilla.' It's not bad, but I've had much better. All in all it's what I have come to expect from a DFH beer, but at least this one is reasonably priced ($9.99 a four-pack) compared to some of their other beers. I'd give it a 6.5-7.0 out of 10. Would I buy it again? Probably not. It's a little too artificial tasting for a Belgian for my liking. Give me a St. Bernardus, Westmalle or La Fin Du Monde over this try hard wannabe. Will somebody please tell me why Dogfish Head is such a highly regarded brewery? Other than their flagship IPAs, Indian Brown Ale, World Wide Stout and a few others, their beers are hardly worthy of the praise they receive. I appreciate the fact that they put out a lot of adventurous, experimental beers, but most of them are failures not worth their cost. Their brewmaster, Sam Calagione, is also a major douche.
Just picked up this beer to have music to. Sounded different and was very cheap compared to most of the other beers available at the place I got it. DFH makes several great beers. As for their failure at expiramentation....that's great for the people with money for all the different $10. Bottles they make. As for me I only try the ones that sound like something I would really like. They are far from the only brewery to way overprice their beers though I have to add.
Picked up a new experimental beer called milwaukees best for tonight since I have tomorrow off. Will post a review later tonight.
Weih.....makes nothing but good beers. No special recipe's as far as I can tell. It's like they just make their beer with better water so the beer is better. Had a Green man ESB and it was better than I expected. So got their porter and it wasn't as good as I expected. Am currently drinking their imperial stout and it is exactly what I was expecting. All were good but the porter was the worst for the style. The imp stout was the best overall. No surprise there.
Hey! I almost got that beer tonight! But I saw the 9% abv and figured I should go a little lighter than that. (I haven't been keeping my tolerance up to snuff.) SO glad to read that I made a good choice in not getting it! That being said, I don't think it's out of touch to say they're a good brewery... but they're no Innis & Gunn (who can do no wrong, in my eyes). But I do like their Midas Touch a lot.
So, like I said, I didn't get Beer To Drink Music To, instead I ended up with an Innis & Gunn brew: (Drinking this cold and straight from the bottle) Smells like: Smells like an Innis & Gunn brew. As in, smells like beer, but also something more... something skin to a slight whiskey smell? (Even though there's nothing about whiskey on the bottle.) I can just slightly detect the orange flavors that are touted as part of this brew process. Definitely smells like the paler brew it is as well. Tastes like: A smooth body without any bites or chokes. The orange essences peek around corners, then step out a bit more at the tail end. Slightly creamy, light carbonation. It tastes like something you might find on a somewhat tropical island or maybe mid-Florida, if it were owned by the Scottish. Overall, this is a pleasant brew with an easy going mouthfeel. It has a slight, sly sweetness - as seen through orange tinted glasses... for your mouth. Not my favorite I&G brew, but easily fits the narrative that they can do no wrong!
