    Oh hai... so...
    ummm..

I'm almost done with the second beer already, because... well, it's weird.
    Hold on.
Let me do some proper introductions...

    Beer #2:
    (Alc. 10%)
    (Flying Monkeys - Paranormal)

Smells: Dark pumpkin pie with a browned crust.

Tastes: There is a "dark pumpkin pie with a browned crust" profile here, but... I don't know. Something is... different.

Overalls, this smelled amazing. But, once I tasted it... I don't know if it's because it's an Imperial or if it's because it follows a lesser ABV brew. Or something else. But, it tastes... off. I'd want to try it again before making a final judgment.
    Anyway.
It has a good amount of alcohol and I'm drinkingn it and it's working well. :p

    Moving on...

    Time for the pic.
    Maybe not nudie, but it's a good'un.

    Here...

    HEY!
    YOU!
    ALL OF YOUS!

    ....hi.

    Time for the next review.

    Beer #3:
    (Alc. 11%)
    (Lough Gill - Dark Sunset)

Smellin - Chocolate, vanilla, and espresso. Buoyed by smoked wood.

Tastin - Vanilla beans guide coffee grounds through smoky chocolate.

Overallin - Pleasant and welcoming, even if the effervescence is on a smaller scale than the implored lounging calls for. But, ignoring the yearn for a bready body instead of closer to cracker, this is a brew you can readily settle in to.

    Oh.. whu?
Did you say "don't leave without that hottie pic, fucker"?

    k... I can accommodate.
    One sec...

    K, here we go. [IMG]

  8. They're going football crazy in Atlanta as people stock up for the "big" Auburn/Georgia game. So the bastards at the liquor store AND the grocery stores have marked up everything exotic or off the path. So tonight it's a fallback beer for me, Guinness Extra Stout ($5.99/6 @ McGreedy Liquors cause he wants the shelf space for the Peach Pumpkin Nutmeg "Ale").

But then, I saw it. But I haven't tried it yet. McGreedy's didn't have a pint, so I got the 750.................

Saw this and never mind the skeleton I want the real McCoy. Imagine the drinking stories you could have with that one. [IMG]

    That's freakin awesome!
I went and looked up the Arena Tour, but there's no current dates anywhere near me.
(The only thing listed is something about Southeast Asia.)

BUT, I did get tickets earlier this year to go see this (next year):

Ok, now that I got my dino-freakout out of the way, it's time to get down to serious business.
    The business of beer!

First of all, I can't believe it's been a whole month since my last outing (or in-ing, as it were)!
But now I'm here and ready to drink a few brews.
The first is nice and easy... the other two kick up a couple fuckin notches.

    So, let's do it!

    Beer #1:
    (Alc. 6%)
(Proclamation Ale Co. - Derivative - Mystery)

Smell: Bright stone fruit and citrus. Gentle pepper notes. Distant and soft hint of pine.

Taste: Pleasant and neighborly stone fruit/citrus (peach/orange mostly). Soft, distant pepper and pine. Dry, especially on the far side.

Overall, this is a very easy to drink and pleasing brew. It would be perfect as a summer beer... at ANY time of day. Just wonderful.

(Worth noting: On the can, it says they threw in a bunch of hops they've never used before, then yelled at the beer to "GET IN THE CAN AND BE AWESOME!!!")

    And for the hottie pic?
Check out the beer can first.
    Look carefully.

    I'm sure you'll notice how it's related.

Woah... more than an hour since my last review!
But don't worry, I've been drinking the whole time. :)

I've moved on to the first of my two stouts of the night.
(And hot DAMN am I missing cigarettes!!!)
    Anyway...

    Beer #2:
    (Alc. 10.5%)
    (Pipeworks - Got Ya Covered)

Smellin: Bready dark chocolate with a hint of salty pretzel skin. Distant hint of vanilla.

Tastin: Dark chocolate on top of a sustained, salty, pretzel note. Trading prominence as they reach the back end. Vanilla influence avoids certain detection.

Overallin, it's an interesting brew. Upon taking my first sip, I said out loud, "Well, that's different." It's thick and fairly sweet, as stouts are wont to be. Not bad, but probably not something to get a whole six/four pack or anything.

And this whole "related hottie pic" thing doesn't always work out so well.
Like, this time... I couldn't easily find a directly related pic.

So, instead... you get chocolate covered hottie.

Ok, boys and girls and anyone elsewise... it's time for...

    Beer #3:
    (Alc. 9%)
    (Common Roots - Coffee Cup)

    Smells: Slow roasted and subdued.

Tastes: Subdued coffee stout. Unassuming, but steady.

Overalls, this seems pretty benign. A decent, steady, understated coffee stout.

    and...
    um...

    For that related pic?
It's not that individualistic of a drink, but I'll try.

    And here's what I got...

  17. I'm not sure what to think of this beer. It's smoked. "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier"
It's part of a set I got from drunken Santa(nalia). I have 6 to review.

The smoked flavor is oddly strong at first. Then it becomes normalish. The smoke flavor is always there though. To me it seems like it would be excellent for steaming brats on a griddle. It's cloudy brown and the head takes a bit to die down. Pouring it down the side didn't seem to hurt it. However, I don't crave it enough to buy more. But I wouldn't turn down another one either.

(By the way, I had a toke or so between rounds, just in case. Now I have a hardwood flavor thing going.)

  18. Ok then, so here's the second one of the set. Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell. The first time I've had beer, with Hell in the name. Hot sauce, sure, but beer?

Anyway, THIS is good beer folks. And I had 2 chicken wings and 5 fries between it and the smoked beer. Just to be fair. It's a cloudy amber color, as I'd normally expect from wheat beer. No weird finish or aftertaste.

Sounds like the smoked flavor is a bit strong for the beer, but hell if I wouldn't try the shit out of some brats griddled in it!

I'm only here for one beer tonight.
My other drinks don't qualify as beer reviews (like PBR hard iced coffee, which incidentally is really good!).

But this one beer is a doozy:
    (Alc. 17.2%)
(Evil Twin - Big Ass Money Stout)

Smell: Slightly sweet roasted malt and mocha espresso

Taste: Sweet, roasted malt on top of subdued mocha espresso.

Overall, I expected this to be smoother, but it turns out that it was just because I'd kept it too cold. After it warmed up closer to room temp, it got measurably better. With the sweetness leveling out to something more reasonable. Along with the and the booziness, as well. But the sweet, roasted malt flavors are easily the most pre-dominant. Not my favorite high-alcohol content brew, but it's pretty good.

    ...

    And once again,
    adhering to custom,
    doth I so produce,
    yon visage of hotness.
