Low carb beers are drinkable. I would never buy one but I wouldn't turn one down if I had nothing and someone gave me one.
I don't disagree. In 90+ degree weather almost anything cold tastes good. I guess I would look at it akin to being more like "beer" flavored seltzer water than actual beer, though.
Local store has Sam's neipa for $15 a case. Usually when they have those big sales it's out of date stuff but this has a Sept. 2018 stamp on the can. Got one case and it tastes just fine to me. I will be picking up more before heading back to nj.
Every time I order a blue moon at a bar, I say 'keep the fruit' and I swear to god at that moment I think I'm the coolest motherfucker on the planet.
Not drinking Blue Moon. lol Blue Moon is a beer for women who "hate beer". I can't completely dog it. It is a lousy Coors beer, but it was one of the beers that got me into drinking "better" beer many years ago. But yeah, a lot of people still drink this beer not knowing Coors makes it, or thinking that it is craft beer, which obviously it's not.
Yeah, I was just riffing on the "I have a low carb..." thing. Didn't bother checking the bottle, cause like you said... it's tequila... And yeah, I never look at the carbs of my beers. I'm not drinking beer to be healthy, lol. (Plus, at an average of 3 beers a week, it's not like I'm piling on the beer carbs.)
So, anyway, before I continue on reading this thread, lemme get this first review posted. Beer #1: (Alc. 6%) (Bell's - Kalamazoo Stout) Smell: Chocolate nibs up first, with a bready body on it's heels. Bold, dark coffee softly layered just underneath the primary notes. Taste: Dark chocolate enters hand-in-hand with dark coffee. An easy, bready body follows, with distant smokey vanilla notes. Overall, not a bad stout. Tastes like it has more of a punch than just 6% alcohol, but not overly-boozy or anything... just it's a fairly stout, um, stout. But yeah, it's smooth enough, although it has a bit of boozy warmth on the back end, but it doesn't linger. (And no, there's no pic to go with Kalamazoo. )
Alrighty, now switching gears to the far lane, it's time for... Beer #2: (Alc. 10%) (Stillwater - Blown Speakers) Smellin: Sweet pineapple, mango, and grapefruit up front. Hints of vanilla lofted by the (mostly) cracker body, then a pinch of pepper under it all. Tastin: Pineapple pith steps forward, notes of mango and grapefruit follow after. A somewhat boozy, biscuity body dominates the middle, with pepper notes on it's belly. Overallin: I'm a bit surprised at the turn-around from smell to taste. I expected this to be sweeter than it is. Instead, it's got a thick body that's boozier and more bitter than I expected. Still, not a horrible beer, but not my favorite from Stillwater. Aaand, instead of a pic, I have this related throwback (that I only thought of because it came on in the car just as I was about to park after getting home from getting these beers!):
Nice work! I can pay you in promised drinks if we ever meet IRL. If not, then, um... gratitude and a Follow on Twitter (if you're on there)? Either way, thanks! I hate giving up on finding pics, but sometimes it takes too long and I'm all like... I just wanna hang out and post wasted shit, lol.
