Death by Coconut from Oskar Blues -- an Irish porter brewed with coconut.

So much toasted coconut and sweet, roasted malts. The flavor and body comes out as this beer warms up a bit.

Was just at little dog brewery
Second smallest one I ever been to.
    Got a flight of 5.
Stout was good. and sour (which wasn't really a sour) was good.
The pale ale was ok. The pumpkin was one of if not the worst pumpkin I ever had.
The German ale smelled like stale macro and barely tasted better.

    So, that 1776 ale?
It was like drinking fermented raisin juice or some shit.
I ended up dumping, like, half of it.
    Waaay too sweet.

But NOW we're on to tonight's festivities!
Got a few new beers to try... hoping I love them all!

    First up:

    (Alc. 8.6%)
(Southern Tier - Cold Press Coffee Pumking)

Smell: Slightly boozy pumpkin greets me first. Spices and crust follow up quickly. Possibly a... banana scent going on. A bit dry on the exit.

Taste: Subdued, but unmistakable, creamy pumpkin pie. Spices meander forward, stronger on the outro. A hint of crust throughout. Slight boozy burn towards the back end.

Overall, not a bad pumpkin beer. Easily not the best, but mid to low-upper range at least. If you're looking for a pumpkin brew and this is on hand, enjoy!

(I was going to post a related picture here, but it's taking awhile and I wanna have fun... not spend half an hour looking for a pic I'll never find. So, fuck it... if anyone wants to offer one up, go for it!)

    Yowza.
Nothing personal, but... glad I ended up missing that run!
Sorry to hear it went so not-great.

I think I'm just passed the half way mark on beer #2 already.
    Good shit!

What's this good shit I'm talking about?
Well, read on dear readers to find out!

    Beer #2:
    (Alc. 8.6%)
    (Cape May - Devil's Reach)

The smells: Soft and easy, light citrus up front. Bready peach follows. The whole thing is very light on scents.

The tastes: Slightly fruity wheat. A ghost of bitter hops dallies in the distance. And an almost imperceptible bready body. Somewhere, just a touch of salt.

Overall, a really pleasant brew. Extremely easy to drink. Tastes like it's only a session, which could be dangerous. Good for just about any time of day.

And here, I found something to go with this one...

    S1n1st0r Black Ale

Looks like a stout, tastes like a porter, drinks like an ale!

I love this stuff. Not many breweries making black ales.

Stouts and porters both fall under the wider category of ale as both are made with top-fermenting yeast.

One more new beer for the night.
Not much of an intro on this one, just wanna get it reviewed and get back to fuckin around the 'net.

    Ber 3:

    (Alc. 8.2%)
    (Schneider Weisse - Aventinus)

Smellin: Raisin bread with some cracker notes. Faded sweet funk. Vanilla spice, maybe.

Tastin: Softly spoken raisin-bread. Vanilla notes stride up in a close second. Some spices complement the rounded edges.

Overall, a really pleasing brew. Vanilla creeps slowly forward as you get through it. The bready/cracker/raisin-bread body is pleasant, instead of overbearing. Good beer for evening imbibements.

I have no idea what pic to look for on this one.
    Any suggestions?

    Leftover great Lakes porter.

I'm cooking a Boston Butt today, so I'm having a sixer of VooDoo IPA and a few shots of Balvenie. The butt's rubbed and I'm burning out the smoker and will be starting the real heat around noon. First brew around 1PM to assuage my guilt about drinking in the morning (though I had a pull from the Ouzo bottle right before the vaporiffic bud fest).

    I love Sundays!

I might even write something today.

Drinking an awesome new double dry hopped double IPA from Grimm, this is Striking.

And it truly is just that.

This is maybe the softest Grimm IPA yet.

Brewed with Motueka, Azacca and Ekuanot Cryo hops.

So much juicy orange, apricot and stone fruit, with some biscuity malts and an earthy, resinous dankness.

    4.5/5

Before that it was Staring at the Pie from Mikkeller (San Diego), brewed in collaboration with Cloudwater out of the UK.

This an IPA brewed with lime, vanilla and coconut.

This beer is super unique, with the lime, vanilla and coconut flavors very discernible. Drinks similar to a sour IPA but not quite, though incorporates some tart flavors to compete with the bitterness from the hops.

Overall, very interesting and quite good.

Drinking Fruit Punch Boogie from Marz Community Brewing out of Chicago, This is a variant of their Jungle Boogie, an imperial wheat ale brewed with rooibos tea. This time around it features cherry, pineapple and peach puree, giving it a truly punch-like flavor.

This comes in at 7.5%, but drinks like 5% ABV.

Very crisp, clean and refreshing beer.

Drinking Turf Talk from Mikkeller (San Diego), a New England-style IPA brewed with Vic Secret and Citra Hops.

Very mild IPA, with lots of juicy grapefruit, pineapple, peach, and an earthy, grassy herbaceous quality.

Medium bodied, smooth, and with a very light carbonation.

    7% ABV

    4.35/5

A little earlier I had Hotbox Coffee Porter from Oskar Blues Brewery

Drinks like an iced caffe mocha with lots of roasty malt flavors, dark roast coffee, and a hint of semisweet dark chocolate. Gets better as it warms.

    3.75/5

The new Pilot Batch Dark Chocolate Scotch Ale from from Genesee is off the fooking hook. This is seriously incredible!

So much delicious chocolate, caramel and butterscotch flavors. Flavor is akin to a tootsie roll.

Really smooth, with a slightly slick mouthfeel.

    7.5% ABV
