We are expecting a warm-up later this week, but in the meantime it feels like fall, so I am enjoying some fall beer. This is Copper Legend from Jack's Abby (Framingham, Mass), an Oktoberfest (aka Marzen). This is pretty much a textbook example of this rather simple style... sweet, malty, clean and crisp. 5.7% ABV 4.25/5
I liked it. Not something i'd go out of my way for, though. I don't think I have ever had a bad beer from Lagunitas either. I really enjoy their lil sumpin beer.
Speaking of Lagunitas, I just picked up a bottle of this today. It is called Sakitumi. This is my first time seeing this. It comes in a yuge ass 32 oz. bottle, and it is an IPA brewed with sake yeast and rice. Smells like your typical Lagunitas beer. Citrus hops, pine resin and some malt sweetness. Wow, this is very strong tasting. The flavor follows suit with the nose. Dank, piney, citrusy, somewhat boozy, and very sweet. Perhaps a bit too sweet for an IPA. Body is pretty thin and light for the ABV. Quite carbonated, too. EDIT: This shit is NASTY. Barely drinkable beyond a few sips. Akin to rocket fuel. Harsh, sweet and very strong. Not good, unless you simply want to get fucked up. 9% ABV 2.65/5
Hahaha... Oh wow. To describe this beer in a nutshell... it would be like if Steel Reserve attempted to make an IPA.
Lagunitas was bought by Heineken a few months ago, so fuck them. I just hope their Born Again Yesterday is not adversely affected. That is really the only beer they make which I like anymore.
Drinking Eille from Off Color Brewing (Chicago). This is a 'biere de miel' brewed with honey and spices. In simpler terms it is a saison brewed with honey and spices. This is a really fine saison. Beautiful combination of lemon zest, clove, honey and some floral notes. Crisp, light and effervescent. 7.5% ABV 4.5/5
Before that I had Tropic Punch Ale from Dugges Bryggeri (Landvetter, Sweden) in collaboration with Stillwater Artisanal (Baltimore,Maryland). This is my second time having this beer. First time was in fall, 2016. This is a sour ale brewed with peach, mango and passionfruit. Nicely crisp and sour, with flavors that truly resemble Hawaiian Punch. 4.5% ABV 4.5/5
Worst fucking bullshit ever. Half the accounts aren't even real, or it's just a bunch of dumb broads looking for validation. For real, don't waste your time.
