My new best friend... At 5.5% alcohol, it's something I can drink without getting wrecked unlike those Decadent 9% double IPAs. Fruity and tropical, an odd sensation to combine with beer, but it works with the hoppiness of an IPA.
Drinking two beers from Moonraker out of California tonight. The first is Yojo, a New England style IPA, and the second is Outrigger, a West Coast IPA. Both outstanding!
Moving on to Passion Dome from Grimm, a dry-hopped sour brewed with passionfruit and conditioned on oak spirals.

At St Franklin brewery. First 2 on flight were the double and Abby dubbed. Both above average for the style and overall.
Left Franklin and Google mapped closest other brewery. Got time for one flight before the show. Philadelphia brewery popped up. Start heading there. On the way I pass evil genius brewery. Being that they have good beers and the best names for beers I had to stop...didn't even know they were in Philly. Drinking Stacy's mom right now. It's a Citra ipa but it is actually on the malty side. Overall it's good but nothing like I expected. I love lamp is next. A pineapple hef. And it's extremely disappointing. Everything that's bad about fruit beer but nothing I like about them. Up next is "Gwyneth Paltrows head was in the box" a blood orange ipa. It's light on the blood orange. But a decent ipa nonetheless. Next up "changing of the guards" a dry hopped imperial stout. I guess it tastes like the description 9.2% abv. Dark beers are my favorite and for the style this one sucks. Overall it's ok but most I have had of this style are better. Last one from here "purple monkey dishwasher" I can swear I had this from the bottle before. It's the lightest peanut butter porter I ever had which is a good thing for drinking a few. But being I have a tiny flight glass it is a disappointment because it will be gone too soon.
Rewind...being in didn't finish mentioning my st. Benjamin flight. I also got the parlay which seemed to be their premium beer on tap while I was there and it was just an average ipa. Nothing great about it and nothing bad about it. Also the frame Klinsmann abbey Valerie with raspberries added. Not sure what the name is about but this thing had the most flavor of any 5% beer I ever had. That means nothing though. The flavor was Meh. Once again nothing bad or good to say about it. But it was flavorful...
when/how the hell did this become PR's beer thread????? thought this was a thread for anyone to post anything???
It's not. The beer has been around for a while now and is considered a classic West Coast IPA. If you want to hear some ridiculous names, check out some of the more recent, up-and-coming breweries. I almost spit my beer out when I read that PF was drinking 'Stacey's Mom'.
LOL yeah i noticed some. Ah well, if its good it can become an established brand whatever the name. It seems kind of 'in' now to promote it as personal and quaint as one can get with these local and special products. Namewise in particular. I guess it has to do with profiling it as something really unique. Just like certain advertising slogans they sometimes just annoy me.. (all in reasonable proportion naturally!) Like... is that how they want to forge a bond between me and their product/service: fuck that shit!
