My girlfriend brought over reds apple ale last night lmao.. good thing i had an old rasputin and bud ice before she came over.
Too late. Went over to the dock st. Brewing on the advice of someone in a beer group I was in. Juiciest hamburger I ever had but the beer was average there. The reason I went to Philly was because I heard monks cafe had pliney the elder on tap. So I am glad to have finally tried that. It dosnt live up to the hype but I can understand someone saying it's a great beer...I mean it is a great beer but like almost any popular beer it just dosnt live up to the hype. I think the hype is created in our heads though. If I was to describe pliney I would say great things about it then 75% of the country can't get it because of distribution. So it gets hyped more than it deserves. Anyway I drank my full for the day. Gonna chill till I sober then drive home and enjoy my growlers.
Last beer before getting some sleep. This is Founders ReDANKulous, an imperial red IPA coming in at 9.5% ABV. I am generally not the biggest fan of red IPAs, but this is pretty good.
Glad I got an opinion on this one too. I was considering it but didn't sound like something I would like. But sounded interesting so was thinking of trying it.
Here is a New Jersey brewery Kick Frenzy needs to check out. It's Kane Brewing Co, out of Ocean, NJ. Right now I am drinking their double dry hopped Sneakbox Pale Ale. It is absolutely amazing! One of the better American pale ales I have had, in fact.
Was at kane a couple weeks ago. Had a flight. All above average (meaning good) but I prefer carton and demented. A friend of a guy I work with works at demented and he said kane is his favorite besides demented. Having a rivertowne schloppy monster now.
Drinking Tangerine Haze from Stillwater Artisanal, a sour IPA brewed with tangerines. Nice sour/bitter hybrid, and also quite refreshing. 7% ABV.
down to the last beer camp and its a barelywine, thinking of aging it. gonna leave it in virginia so i will age it at least another 2 weeks and then maybe i will decide what to do with it from there. stopped at the crooked hammock on the way home. one of the better micros i have ever been to except for the parking lot was completely packed and the overflow parking on the grass had a spot if you were lucky and at the right place at the right time. good live music playing but i am guessing that is because its a beach area in the summer...might have been a different experience in the winter. had 4 on the flight and all were good. the stout was above average from others i have had and thats my favorite style. the coconut beer had a good coconut taste but i have only had dark coconut beers so this was new and a nice surprise. i would give it a B+ the ipa was just a good ipa. nothing stood out but nothing bad about it. and the belgium blonde. which was highly recommended by the couple sitting next to me was ok. not my style though so i wasnt expecting much. got their brown in a crowler. one of the better browns i have had. and last but not least, got a growler of their coffee/pumpkin beer. and....havnt tried it yet. i only got it to try as many beers as i can without having to book a hotel or spend a fortune on crowlers. i will know if i will regret not getting the growler of the haulin' oats stout instead, sometime this afternoon
Drinking The Cloud from Stillwater, an IPA brewed with oats and lactose, which imparts a soft and fluffy mouthfeel. 7% ABV. Pretty solid. Not mindblowing, but very good.
last i had it was a few years ago. .was going to get my usual stout, but this was cheaper. wasn't sure if I liked it. it's alright. .tastes red to me. pours pale.
Pixie Dust IPA from Sloop -- a soft, light, easy drinking IPA coming in at 6% ABV. Super juicy with tons of ripe peach and mango flavors from the use of Galaxy and Mosaic hops. Simply phenomenal stuff from one of my favorite breweries.
Prairie Flare from Prairie -- a gose. Super light, crisp and tart, with a dry hop finish. Perfect hot weather beer.
