There are actually a growing number of beers made with things like jalapeno peppers and cucumbers. One of the local breweries here has a jalapeno sour, and just a few weeks ago I had a great cucumber cream ale by Mill House brewing out of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Drinking Glorious from Lord Hobo Brewing Company out of Woburn, Mass -- a 6.5% ABV pale ale. Very light and refreshing with a strong galaxy hop presence.
Now drinking Motueka Dry Hopped Fort Point Pale Ale from Trillium. Awesome, awesome stuff. Tons of ripe, juicy melon with a nice grassy finish. So good.
Picked up a Stone ruinten triple IPA fro mwhole foods on my way home from work tonight. I got the one with orange peel and vanilla bean. It's the one on the left. 10.8 % abv
drinking some homemade rum ..thick and sticky ...not alcohol flavor. .the meter on it comes to 46%. sugarry, but damn it's a beautiful buzz ...
Drinking Double Dry Hopped Cabbage from Other Half. A 7.9% ABV double IPA brewed with Mosaic, Simcoe, Vic Secret and Motueka hops. Tons of juicy tropical fruits (mango, pineapple, passionfruit), mellon, and a huge earthy dankness.
Moving on to yet another incredible Other Half beer, this is their Double Dry Hopped Forever Simcoe, a double IPA (8.5% ABV). This has just become one of my top OH beers, and my favorite Simcoe hopped beer. So amazing!!
Moving on to what is likely my final beer of the night, this is Citra Sour Soft Serve IPA from Gun Hill Brewing. I actually had no idea this was a sour until I took the first sip. To be precise, this is a sour IPA brewed with lactose and Citra hops. It is really, really incredible stuff fo realz!! Super sour, but with a nice hop bitterness in the finish to round things out.
Actually, it looks like this beauty will be my final beer of the night. From the renowned, world class Trillium out of Mass, this is Double Dry Hop Scaled, an IPA coming in at 7% ABV. A total juice bomb in flavor, aroma and appearance. Ripe, juicy melon for days! Tree House and Trillium are truly the two best breweries in the United States, hands down.
finally cracked open the utopia. smells exactly like the 2012 bourbon county stout i had aging for a couple years. the taste is more complex, not really a stout taste at all. hints of bourbon of course. really smooth for a 27% anything. this really sucks because i am gonna try to make this bottle last at least a year and hopefully a few but when that is the case, i cant take enough sips to dissect all the different flavors i am getting...and there are a lot. a slight sourness on the front but it quickly disappears into a malty bourbon taste with a bit of vanilla mixed in. lets be honest here, i could get better tasting for WAY less money (although this does taste great. an A if i was grading in letters) i could easily get higher abv if i was looking for a buzz. it would be hard but i could probably find a combination of the 2 if i looked hard enough, (actually Sink the Bismark fits that description just fine, and i have had that) but with 15000 bottles a year being made this is still a special beer and i am glad to have tried it.
Yeah, the Utopias is really nothing special. Just very hyped because of its high ABV and limited availability. Has more in common flavor-wise with liquor than beer.
Drinking Double Dry Hopped Suparillo from Other Half, a double IPA coming in at 8.5% ABV. Such an aggressive, resinous hop bitterness with this one, and a nice dry finish.
Relaxing after a long night of work, drinking Billy 18-Watt Session IPA from Singlecut. Love Singlecut's beers, and this is one of my favorites of theirs.
I got this for myself&these guests I'm having over tomorrow I haven't tried it before But in general, gin and tonic is my fave
Seen a lot of people posting good things about Jai Alai from cigar city brewing. Finally came across it so I figured I would try it. Drinking out of the can because I'm at the beach but it is a solid beer. I don't want to say much till I try it from a glass but my best description would be juicy. And a nice slight hoppy taste hidden on the back end.
