I've never seen brew dogs but It looks interesting ....................... In the season finale, Martin and James brew a Boston Clambake beer infused with lobsters and clams. They take their beer on the high seas on a tall ship sailing through Boston Harbor. Hotwater
I h I heard it was all staged but its reality tv so its pretty much what i would expect. They give some great brewing ideas and some great beer recomendations and pairings. Plus they give ideas of where to go for each city they visit. So yea its a good show even if the whole brewing on a boat thing is completely fake.
I left one straggler in the back of the fridge from my last trip. It is zywiec's 1881 porter beer. Let me start with....I was eating salty peanuts just before I opened this one. My tongue was a little beat up from the salt. This is the wrong beer for this situation. I thought it would be like a Guinness black lager. First taste was...is this an imperial porter? The alcohol hit my tongue and started a barroom brawl with the salt residue left on my tongue. That said. This is 15 minutes after I opened it and, there is no doubt an alcohol taste but not bad and the taste is good. A strong roasted malt taste. There is a smoothness that I don't think is normal for the first few sips. There was at least some carbonation when I cracked it and now there is nothing. I really hope to try this again because I know it will be a completely different beer.
I would totally try that. Does anyone else get reminded of the Sesame Street theme music by that song?
From the reviews I just skimmed, it looks like it should be a really good beer. But apparently the carbonation is low naturally, so it didn't have far to go to lose that bubbly feel. I definitely think you're right on about wanting to try it again!
Trying pureau now. Its a little warm but still tastes really good. Very sessionable. It almost taste like liquid nothingness. But my tongue can feel those flavorable minerals scraping my tastebuds. Overall it dosnt taste much different than any other bottled water i have ever drank.
Drinking Tall tales Excalibur. It's got a harsh hoppiness strong but not overpowering.the mouthfeel and smoothness make it very drinkable. I had one an hour ago and it had a nasty sour taste on the back end. Not getting that this time. I am at the bottom of the glass...Maybe it warming up fixed it because although I would never pay for it again it isn't too bad now.
Trying tweason'ale from dogfish head. First thought was this tastes like champagne...what the fuck? It says ale right? I look at the bottle again. Yup it says ale. Taste again...yup taste like champagne. The reason I bought it was because it is made with strawberries. So another sip...yes there is a strawberry taste but when I think of dfh I think of strong flavors. Not a numb bland flavor with no sweetness when they add one of the sweetest fruits on earth to their beer. So pretty much I won't say anything else about the taste. I will say this is the best champagne I have ever had...but I don't like champagne and I didn't want champagne...I wanted a beer.
Ahh... rum... been awhile since I've drank that. Straight, anyway... I'm sure I've had mixed drinks with it somewhere along the way. I'm looking forward to drinking beer again. I'll probably skip it tonight, but will have at least one tomorrow. I have some Dogfish Head Punkin Ale and it'll be exactly one year since I last had it, as of tomorrow night. So, it'll be interesting to see what my review will be this time around, compared to last year.
I been drinkin. Tonight was the one year anniversary of trying Dogfish Head Punkin Ale. My review of this year: Smells like: It smells like a regular ale at first, but after a few sniffs the pumpkin weaves it's way into the mix. And a hint of spices to go along with it. But still, mostly a regular ale scent. Tastes like: The first thing I notice is the decent thickness to the body. It's body is closer to a stout than an ale, I think. The pumpkin taste is even fainter than the smell, almost non-existent. The spices lend a hand to the flavor profile, but not really on the pumpkin side of things. Overall, similar to last year. I believe that last year I stated it was a good beer and should be filed under "fall" instead of "pumpkin"... the same goes for this year. Good beer, a good fall beer at that... but not really a good showing for a pumpkin beer.
I saw this last week at the place i get my brew from. Was going to pick it up but decided against it. Would you say the elysian pupmkin beer is better?
If you're looking for a beer that tastes like pumpkin pie, or just a good pumpkin taste overall, then yes... by all means, the Elysian is fucking awesome. Fucking. Awesome. The Dogfish Head Punkin Ale is a good beer, a pretty good fall themed beer... but it's not a good pumpkin beer. In my opinion, its not a pumpkin beer at all.
