I am not either but a lot of my friends do so I have been experimenting on them with new beers to try. Rollingstoned gave me a site to check out ratings and I have also been asking the staff for recommendations. It is fun to see my friends try them.
So where do you get these? Aside from direct-from-brewery, I'm guessing that they have a limited, mostly local distribution, with a few places outside the area that specialize in stocking microbrews
"The Beer store" which is controlled by the government of Ontario basically stock a lot of craft beers here. If they do not you can special order most of them in through the store and pick them up when they come in. It works well here.
Beers from Tree House, Trillium and Alchemist need to be bought directly from the brewery and are not available in stores. I get mine through a trading group on Facebook I belong to.
I am drinking Double Dry-Hopped Softly Spoken Magic Spells from Singlecut. This is a double dry-hopped double IPA coming in at 8.6% ABV. Canned 3/10/17. Pours a very hazy, opaque orange color with an initial 1/8 inch finger of head. Aroma is of tropical and pithy citrus with TONS of juicy mango, melon, pineapple and orange, coupled with dank marijuana, and some grassy, peppery, vegetal notes. Flavor is as juicy as the aroma with, again, tons of mango, melon, pineapple, and some guava, with a good amount of dankness on the back end. This double dry-hopped version is much less bitter and far more juicy than the original. Mouthfeel is medium, smooth, somewhat creamy, and with a low level of carbonation. Overall this beer is fire! A+
Now drinking Melcher Street from Trillium out of Massachusetts, a New England style IPA from one of the top three most acclaimed breweries in America if not the entire world. 7.2% ABV Pours a hazy orange with an initial 1/2 inch of head. Canned 3/7/17. Aroma is of floral and tropical fruit hops, with predominating notes of papaya, peach, mango and pineapple. There are also faint notes of mint, bubblegum, honeydew melon, and a resinous pine dankness. Flavor is bursting with Mosaic hops. Tons of peach, apricot, mango, pineapple and papaya, along with some blueberry, as well as a weed-like dankness. Mouthfeel is medium with a light-medium carbonation. Overall mouthfeel is soft but still quite crisp. Incredible Trillium beer. Overall rating: A+
Now drinking SIberian Black Magic Panther by Westbrook, an imperial stout. 12% ABV Pours a pitch black color with a tan one-finger head. Aroma is of dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, molasses, raisins, plum and espresso. Flavor is much the same as the nose, with an upfront roasted malt sweetness, some smoky flavors, and lots of dark fruits. Mouthfeel is slick, moderately full, and with a light carbonation. Very boozy imperial stout which needs time to cool down, but still very good. A
Picked up one of those create your own 6 packs for the week - Holy City Washout Wheat Hefeweizen, Quest Brewing Belgium Pale Ale, Guinness extra stout, Sweet Baby Jesus Peanut Butter Chocolate Porter or some order of those words, 21st Amendment Sneak Attack Saison, and Brewery 85 Yeoman's American Brown Ale (one of my personal favorite, i had their cask release of this beer at the brewery and it was one of the best beers i've ever had)
Drinking the new 2x Unfiltered IPA from Southern Tier -- supposedly their attempt at creating a hazy New England style IPA. Just hit the shelves today. It's so new I had the honors of adding this to Untappd as it was previously unlisted. Bottled just five days ago on 3/23/17. 8.2% ABV. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange color with a one finger head. Aroma is of predominately Sorachi Ace hops. I'm getting lots of lemon zest with this one, some clove, and some spiciness as well. Overall I am getting a smell reminiscent of lemon Pledge. Like the aroma, I am getting a strong, somewhat artificial flavor that AGAIN calls to mind lemon Pledge. The hops used in this seem to be Sorachi Ace, as I am getting lots of zesty, lemony flavors, as well as some peppery spice like flavors. Where this beer shows an improvement over the original is in its body. This is significantly creamier than fuller-bodied than the original. Overall rating: B
Tonight is the first time i've had one since i first started drinking beer, i wasnt a fan then but decided to try again since my taste has evolved a bit since then. Still not a fan, i agree with you, the taste is off putting
Drinking Wicked Philthy, an IPL. This is a collaboration beer between Jack's Abby and Sole Artisan Ale. 7% ABV. Pours a hazy golden orange with a small amount of head. Aroma is of dank and tropical citrus with lots of perfume-like floral notes, some dank pine resin and a hint of bubblegum. I am getting a good amount of papaya, lemon zest and some mango as well, with a faint herbaceous backdrop and some honey sweetness. Flavor is of lemon zest, mango, fresh pine needle, honey, and some bready pilsner malts. Mouthfeel is light and slightly sticky with a light to moderate carbonation. Overall a very nice beer. A-
Just as I run out beer and have to hit the hay. This is the colour and consistency of a festival piss bucket. I hope you paid good money for it.
