When politicians say they want waiters tips to be tax free, Resturanter owners hear: you will be relieved of burdunsome regulation and time spent managing and accounting for tip income.
Sigh. It's a shame high school civics has been phased out in so many states--apparently yours. Do you think the VP is a queen?
The bully mic is powerful, you say you want no tax on tips and start outing everyone in the way. No one wants to be that bad guy on something popular.
The Vice President is the President pro tempore of the senate..but has no vote except to break a tie, and can't introduce bills.
In October 2023 Biden requested additional aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. The Republicans, however, refused to consider the request unless it was tied to a shift in immigration policy. The Democrats said okay and included a immigration component to the request...to which the Republicans agreed and the Senate passed a bipartisan $118 billion border security bill, which also included a $109 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. Then Trump derailed the whole thing.
Train was falling off the tracks any but Trump who is not even president can derail massive bills like immigration and funding WWIII but cackles cant get the ball rolling on no tax on tips? Be like Joe I need your help !
This election reminds me very much of Lyndon Jonson vs Barry Goldwater. Goldwater was vilified in every conceivable way as being the embodiment of inevitable war if he was elected, and we heard that it would be the end of America as we knew it if he were elected. Johnson won that election in 1964. And we got Vietnam. He won in a landslide, and four years later he was so hated he had to make that infamous "I will not seek, and I will not accept the nomination of my party for President of the United States." And here we are again, with a former President so vilified. And the first guy had to drop out so we could get the laughing hyaena.
Me thinks you're either deliberately trying to wind people up or you're demonstrating your ignorance.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Goldwater was a convicted felon, a sexual predator, a failed businessman, nor was he found to be in possession of hundreds of classified documents which he refused to surrender, he didn't lead an insurrection when he lost...and he didn't meet in secret with Nikita Khrushchev.
I can't seem to figure out why you would be reminded. That guy was a military veteran didn't shy away from it. However, instead of repeating it all, you can read much here: Barry Goldwater - Wikipedia Trump is nothing like Goldwater. The circumstances of this upcoming election are a million miles from that which Goldwater lost. Quite different times too. Goldwater pushed Nixon to resign (Watergate) whereas Trump denies losing and tried to cling on to Office. Not really the same or similar, at all.
----and the US was helping fund the French fighting over Viet Nam since the 40s. Lyndon Johnson was not the first, although his action / inaction on VN caused him to quit.
Okay, where was I wrong? Was Goldwater a convicted felon? A convicted sexual predator? A failed businessman? Was he found to be in possession of hundreds of classified documents which he refused to surrender? Did he lead an insurrection when he lost in 1964? Did he meet in secret with Nikita Khrushchev? Inflation has fallen below 3% for the past year, it's lowest rate in 3 years, while economic growth continues strong and unemployment is lowest in 54 years. There have been 19 million new business applications since Vice President Harris and President Biden took office, an annual growth rate 90% higher than prepandemic averages. Retail sales are up 1%, higher than expected, and the stock market just rallied, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average ending the day over 40,000. And yet, his kooky cult still thinks the economic sky is falling.
