So far there have been 5000 Airline related incidents involving unruly behavior by passengers since the start of the year.
Including 3,580 reports of mask-related incidents.

Why oh why are they so fucking militant about a mask? I tellya, I'll be glad to wear a mask on a plane for the foreseeable future. I always caught some damn cold or bug after air travel - ill mannered stupid inconsiderate people coughing and sneezing and snotting all over the place - oh, and my favorite - let's cough into our rolled up fist, so it splatters in my direction.

All this misbehavior was ALWAYS just lurking / boiling beneath the surface of polite society just waiting for a no good son of a bitch with no scruples to come to the fore and stir it up. The prejudice that has always been here just got a big time cheerleader and a fascist who obeys none of the ordinary laws of polite functioning society. Also people know that the 1 or 2 % of the richest have been fucking the rest of us forever. And wonder of wonders-----people are still voting republican and believing the bullshit they put out every day.

Kudos about the spending on infrastructure, but what's this rhetoric?

He spits out the word "China" like a curse word. Let's create an atmosphere, vernacular, and inflection conducive to acceptable relations.

He says, "... capitalist, not a socialist" like he hasn't heard one word of what anyone has said about social spending. It feels a helluvalot like appeasing... Appeasing at the expense of America's future? He wants to sound cool to voters who are not willing to think about the future - they want story time - something that sounds like "I pledge allegiance" and not like "Thunberg" or "AOC" or "Green New Deal".

I heard plenty of terms like "clean energy" (wasn't their used to be a "clean coal"?), "climate change", and other things that are common enough to not sound threatening to unthinking zealouts.

Why doesn't our leadership's rhetoric reflect our existing values? Because we're not on the same page??? He must have been home with CoViD that day.

It honestly sounds a little watered down to me. I'm not making this up, it's how I hear it. The infrastructure package is light, and the language is loaded for the 50+ crowd to re-elect.

    It's a blooming gameshow...

You could have gotten this, or nothing. Sounds like you would rather it be nothing.

The infrastructure bill wasn't everything we wanted, but it had been delayed long enough. It's clear that in order to get anything accomplished Biden must be ready to compromise. Partisan Republicans will fight him at every turn.

Compromise = don't tax the rich fairly. We got screwed on that. We got screwed on Rx pricing. We got screwed on paid leave. We got screwed on clean energy. So, the middle class, as usual, pays for everything.

My takeaway on it is we need to vote more Repubs out in 2022. Give the Dems a bigger majority so we can get bills passed.

Unfortunately the GOP appears to be making a comeback. Youngkin won in Virginia using a sound strategy: "Distance yourself from Trump while letting him endorse you." That way you win over both Trump's base plus Republican voters who don't like Trump. It worked, though just barely.

I'm concerned that the same strategy could give back the House and Senate to the Republicans in 2022. It's a year until those elections and we need Old Joe to turn things around. It's also a year since the last election and there are still plenty who insist it was stolen.

    I suppose you're all right.

    One has to compromise.

Why in hell are we compromising with them again?

Yeah, I was wondering if this is what we’ll have to deal with forever? Is this going to be the norm? They can put a stop to all this madness by serving some serious charges for creating all this animosity.

As I said, it's the only way to get anything done. Half a loaf is better than none.

Is anyone surprised that it's a constant battle against right wing republicans to get ANYTHING that helps the middle class, the infrastructure, the poor, and / or any programs that don't reward their right -wing benefactors? It's been that way as long as I can remember and and it started REALLY picking up steam with Reagen, Newt Gingrich and the advent of that dead motherfucker Rush Limbaugh and the other toadies of the monied class. It's carried on by Fox and other media pricks. If one enters any discussion with the right wing , the knowledge that whatever they say will be lies, distortions and unspoken fealty to those that don't give a damn about democracy or ANY group of people but themselves and the leverage and money they can gain, legal, illegal , hidden or right out in front of all of us------then you will have a good understanding of who they are, what they care about and to what lengths they will go to maintain power. They don't want money going to infrastructure, election security, child care paid family leave, etc, etc, etc. That's money that they can't get their grubby mitts on.

All of these programs the Democrats have proposed would go a long way to helping their own constituency and yet they refuse to get onboard
