France is pissed at the Biden Administration


France cancels DC gala in anger over Biden sub deal: report

French officials on Thursday canceled a gala at the country's Washington, D.C., embassy over the Biden administration's decision to scrap a $40 billion nuclear submarine deal that the European nation had signed with Australia, The New York Times reported.

The U.S., Australia and the United Kingdom on Wednesday announced a new trilateral security partnership in the Indo-Pacific, with the three planning to launch an 18-month review exploring how Australia could best acquire nuclear-powered submarines.

But France - which had worked on the submarines since 2016 in a $40 billion deal to replace aging Australian subs - was left behind in the deal.

Now, Paris has angrily scrapped the "240th Anniversary of the Battle of the Capes" event meant to take place Friday evening at the French Embassy and aboard a French frigate in Baltimore, a French official told the Times. The event was meant to celebrate the French navy's aid to America's fight for independence in 1781.

Following the perceived snub, France's top naval officer, who had traveled to Washington for the gala, will now return to Paris early.

 

DeSantis rips Biden administration for 'seizing' COVID-19 treatments


Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ripped the Biden administration’s decision to take control of the distribution of monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID-19 — replacing the system under which several Republican states, including his, took up most of the supply.

The US Department of Health and Human Services announced Monday that it has “transitioned from a direct ordering process to a state/territory-coordinated distribution system,” saying the change will provide “health departments maximum flexibility to get these critical drugs where they are needed most.”

Seven Southern states — including Florida — took up 70 percent of the orders of monoclonal antibodies in early September, according to Politico. As a result, the Biden administration reallocated some 158,000 doses this week.

 

Interior reverses Trump, moves BLM headquarters back to DC

The Interior Department will restore the Washington, D.C., headquarters for the Bureau of Land Management, which was moved to Colorado during the Trump administration, while maintaining the Colorado office as its "Western headquarters."

The department announced its decision on the controversial move in a statement on Friday.

The Trump administration shifted its headquarters from Washington to Grand Junction, Colo., in what critics saw as an attempt to drive out career officials. The Trump administration had argued that it was putting officials closer to the land that they managed.

The move was initially announced in 2019 and completed last year.

Data released by the Biden administration earlier this year indicated that more than 87 percent of the agency's employees based in D.C. left the agency after the Trump administration's announcement that it would relocate the office.

Just 41 agreed to move while 287 either retired or left the agency by the end of last year.
