Psaki refuses to discuss leaked Biden call with Ghani that shows he knew Afghan army was collapsing


White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday refused to comment about the leaked phone call between President Biden and former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Psaki dodged questions from reporters about the July 23 call, in which Biden told the Afghan leader to change the “perception” about the fight against the Taliban, “whether it’s true or not.”

President Biden pressured Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani to create the “perception” that the Taliban weren’t winning, “whether it’s true or not,” in a phone call just three weeks before the insurgents seized control of the country, a bombshell leaked transcript shows.

Biden and Ghani spoke for roughly 14 minutes on July 23 in what would be their final call before the Taliban overran the government and Afghanistan descended into bloody chaos amid the botched US withdrawal, according to a transcript and audio obtained by Reuters.

Much of the call was focused on what Biden referred to as the Afghan government’s “perception” issue.

 

The US needed an excuse to get the fuck out of the country, and Donald Duck gave Biden the excuse he needed. After invading the country, cutting the heads off all the roosters, and gathering as much intelligence as possible, there's no reason to stay. Obama complained that the predator drones cost a million bucks, just to blow up on terrorist, and the US is busy developing cheaper ways to kill anyone on the other side of the planet, at the push of a button. AI is the future, because there never was any intelligent life around here. Terrorists think they can keep this kind of crap up forever, but have yet to confront 40,000 drones carried by a single semi-truck.

Within twenty years, there will not be a single country on the planet capable of defeating the US, ever, I mean ever. The lead in science and technology, and the US dominance of all the world's resources, means its just business. Right now its too expensive to use drones and other high tech weapons, just to kill stone age terrorists.

The blame game has begun over who lost Afghanistan.

The fact is, President Joe Biden and his predecessor, Donald Trump, were both eager to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan and end what Biden referred to in his Aug. 16 speech as “America’s longest war.”

The Trump administration in February 2020 negotiated a withdrawal agreement with the Taliban that excluded the Afghan government, freed 5,000 imprisoned Taliban soldiers and set a date certain of May 1, 2021, for the final withdrawal.

And the Trump administration kept to the pact, reducing U.S. troop levels from about 13,000 to 2,500, even though the Taliban continued to attackAfghan government forces and welcomed al-Qaeda terrorists into the Taliban leadership.

 

The blame game has no fucking meaning whatsoever, because we only have one party. Both democrats and republicans hate each other more than they trust their own parties, and the wealthy encourage such idiocy.

Joe Biden could lose, maybe even to Trump. I hope he recovers from it, but besides Afghanistan he's dealing with a pandemic which refuses to go away and natural disasters hitting the country hard. He can't be blamed for all of it but since it's happening on his watch he gets crucified.

I hope within the next year Trump is convicted of one or more of the crimes he's charged with. At least get him out of the picture. And hopefully Joe will turn things around.

 

I think President Biden is doing just fine. He’s not holding back or threatening to hold back any federal assistance/funds from States that have been hit with natural disasters, takes full responsibility for anything and everything that goes wrong on his watch, so, I’m fine with his performance. True leadership is not a walk in the park- mistakes are going to be made, no one is perfect. They can always tell you what you should have done after the fact. I’m still happy with my vote!

My only criticism is with the withdrawal from Afghanistan, it could have been handled better.

 

Agreed. I’m sure the GOP will try to capitalize on mistakes made. Campaign talking points for 2024 for sure. My friends that are MAGA heads are still drinking the cool aid- claiming that the country is in disarray. FFS!!
