I think the days of America playing policeman around the world has to stop. We have no moral authority to do these atrocious things to others when we can't even feed our own population.

I’m in total agreement- and though China and Russia have commented on our actions of pulling out of Afghanistan- let’s see just how fast they come in to fill the void. I truly want them to do that so they too can suffer operational and economic attrition! Go on in there and get some of THAT!

Biden is taking a lot of heat over Afghanistan, some of it justified, but if the Afghan military lacked the will to fight then the collapse was inevitable. Still everyone's shocked at how quickly it happened. On paper they were a superior fighting force to the Taliban, but it all unraveled because they didn't believe in what they were fighting for. A corrupt and incompetent government doesn't inspire its troops to fight and die in defending it.

Yes the speed at which it collapsed caught Biden unprepared, but it caught us all unprepared. He'll recover from this setback. But the lesson needs to be learned again: if we're going to prop up a foreign government against a common enemy, we need to ensure that government is a good one, not a corrupt and incompetent one. How can we spread democracy to the world when the "democracies" we install can't serve the people?

Yeah, they folded like a cheap suit. I guess they'll never get their deposit back on all that military equipment they borrowed. Kinda like the lend lease program.....

Nice to see all of our allies stepping up to help out here. Sorry, Europe is on holiday until September, no one is here to take your inquiry, ring back then, but please continue to send money.

I had read somewhere that Germany was able to get some US citizens out... But I haven't heard much else.

First of all, after the last 4 years of Trump trying to bully the European countries and siding with Putin do you blame them for not trusting anything the US does anymore... It's going to take awhile to earn that trust back.

The Taliban Now Controls a U.S.-Made Super-Surveillance System

In Kabul, checkpoints are now manned by Taliban fighters using biometric scanners paid for by the American people to hunt downcivilians who worked and fought alongside us, in what should be a reckoning for everyone who sold biometric surveillance as a tool for good.

Over the last 20 years, Afghanistan became a technological training ground. It was the place America experimented with new weapons of war, like the Predator drone, often with horrific results. It’s also where we experimented with new forms of surveillance, both militarized and humanitarian. By going community to community, scanning Afghans’ biometric data indiscriminately, the U.S. hoped to create new counter-insurgency tools

Biden Laughs Off Sagging Poll Numbers, Defends Afghanistan Mess

At a White House press conference on Sunday, President Joe Biden quadrupled down on his decision to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan, arguing that “history” would judge him kindly and that “there is no way to evacuate this many people [from Kabul] without pain.”

And when a reporter cited a new CBS poll, published on Sunday, saying it found “a majority of Americans… no longer consider you to be competent, focused, or effective at the job” amid the humanitarian crisis, Biden laughed it off and grinned widely.

I think policing the whole world is a VERY expensive - and never-ending - task. Bad actors have been around since the first human, and greedy power-hungry men aren't disappearing. Just from a strategic, tactical standpoint, the more we're spread thin around the globe, in multiple active engagements - what happens if / when a bigger, more serious threat like China or Russia (or both) makes a military thrust somewhere?? Both those countries are flexing military muscle the last few years, and continue to do so. China makes no secret of the fact that THEY want to replace the U.S. as the world's only military and economic "superpower."

And that's letting the whole "moral authority" point out of the picture. The U.S. pushes older citizens, sick folks, military vets, and economically steam-rolled "little people" into the corners of society. Our politicians - via voters - talk a nice, rosy, big game ........... but in truth ............ nobody, it seems, gives a shit about them. Only the wealthy "pillars of the community" get full attention.

Russia ALREADY pissed a ton of money, equipment, and lives down the drain in Afghanistan from a years-long conflict. Now China is having to beef up their border with Afghanistan - already moving troops and equipment to the border.

The idea that the U.S. is going to turn third-world countries into "Main Street U.S.A." and an innocent "Leave It to Beaver" neighborhood is just S-I-L-L-Y. Too many cultural differences, religious differences, etc. The U.S may be well-meaning, but it's very impractical in reality.

Europeans can read the tea leaves and they see that half the U.S. STILL thinks T**** was the answer to their problems. So for Europe - post T**** and his "faithful flock of LEMMINGS" - do you want to trust the U.S. when, as a country, the U.S. seems to be half handshakes and half rattlesnakes?? Europe doesn't know - YET - if the U.S will turn backward to another "T****-ish", fascist style of "government"(???) - or stay on a more normal style of leadership as in past decades.

Can't blame Europe for being skittish after the lying TURD jumped into the punch bowl.

Let China deal with them. Or what Donny would say, "Let 'gina' deal with them". The Afgans are never going to change - this hate has been pounded into their heads for centuries in the guise of religion. Boy, there's going to be a lot of surprises when they finally meet Allah. "What? Where are my virgins? I thought we were supposed to get a gaggle of them?

Al la la la la la !!! <<enter celebratory gunfire of your choice here>>

New 41% low for Biden, 76% fears he’ll let Taliban capture Americans

People are fast losing confidence in President Joe Biden, who today hit a new approval rating low as he fumbles through efforts to rescue Americans in Afghanistan before the Taliban shut the door on Aug. 31.

Not only do voters believe that Biden isn’t doing enough to help stranded citizens, but a massive 76% believes some will be left behind to be captured by the terror group that now controls Afghanistan in the wake of the United States's withdrawal.

99% of us wonder, what the hell were all of you civilians doing in Afghanistan anyway ? Not to mention not registering at the embassy so anyone really knows you are there. Of course they are going to capture Americans, that's what they do - nobody seemed that 76% concerned that they routinely shot at and killed American soldiers - during several administrations.
