Donald Duck is still a free man, and the idea anyone is in charge around here is absurd. Nobody let the chip shortage happen, it is the result of the oligopolies fighting amongst themselves. The Asians control the memory market in particular, and regularly "run out", because its the cheapest thing to make, and running out is the only way to inflate prices.

The chip shortage happened simply because US semiconductor companies wanted to maximize profits through promoted offshoring - and at the same time, Taiwan, China and South Korea governments were heavily investing (subsidizing) in their manufacturing, and still do.

But be careful what your read. There's a lot of propaganda going on about the issues. Netanyahu has tried to characterize the current conflict as rooted in ancient Arab hatred of Jews instead of present treatment of the Palestinians. His recent remarks at the World Zionist Congress that the Mufti of Jerusalem persuaded Hitler to institute the Holocaust have drawn critical comments.

You don't comprehend. Even the fucking Pentagon has repeatedly discovered foreign chips with spyware and serious flaws in all their hardware, yet they keep outsourcing the chips. The Pentagon also has their own EMP proof chips, capable of surviving a nuclear bomb going off and frying any electronics. They spent half a trillion dollars and fifteen years developing those chips, but either they keep up with the pace of progress, and outsource, or they're screwed.

Yeah, they use a 1980's old IBM fab, and trust me, they're not lighting the world on fire with technology with their old bulletproof microcontroller they use in missiles - 8051 based, developed in the late 70's. Well, at least they're not tubes anymore.. I've been in the silicon tech sales biz for 22 years, and seen it all. The battle for everyday chips has been lost a long long time ago. If a bomb went off at TSMC, it would be a crisis worse than covid. There is nobody to pick up the slack, no other game plan, and shame on us for getting into that position.

The current conflict was started by hamas firing rockets into Israel , if the palestinians want peace oust hamas THEN if Israel balks its on them (Israel)

If you know tech, the shit is now hitting the fan so hard, all at once, its driving everyone insane. Its not just hardware, the scientists are going down the rabbit hole so fast its making them dizzy, and the Pentagon is becoming religious. The sum total of human knowledge is now doubling every nine months, and AI are rapidly becoming the only way to make faster progress. The newest experiments in physics include an experiment with machine learning, where the machine could derive the mechanics of system, without requiring any silly laws of physics. Science without laws is way far out...

there remains a deep seated hatred of Israel's existence by hamas and the muslim/arab culture by and large and until that is resolved everything is a band aid

Understand, this is generational hatred. This is all they know and all they've ever known and how they have been raised since childhood. The blood shed over that miserable stretch of rocks.

Sure Hamas, launch a few more rockets and Israel will continue to level the place. You continue to poke that bear, and look, it has teeth and claws...

Hatred sucks. It'll eat your life up. I only know one Palestinian and he admitted that he's had relatives get killed and he is not fond of Israel. But he also said he felt that the land wasn't worth fighting over and he felt the best revenge was simply to live in America and be happy.

Weapons are the single largest manufactured export, and Donald Duck is still trying to destroy the US government, in the name of freedom and low taxes. Hate is a terrible thing to waste, and the problem with Hamas is they have not made any money hating Israel.

So, where does Hamas get the dough to buy zillions of rockets? Go fund me? They don't have food, shelter, medical, education - but they can buy rockets...

The only reason the Palestinians are even there is because all the other Muslims pay them to occupy the space. We do something similar in the US with our own homeless people, and throw them in jail or attack them if they camp out in front of the bank, and you could pay homeless people to camp out in front of the White House and throw rocks.

Homelessness is a sticky wicket. I don't think many people choose to be homeless, they just get behind a long bad series of events that they just can't escape from. Then throw in all those with mental illness that we've thrown out on the street, just because there is no mental health care since all those people are probaby just lazy anyway, then the traumatized vets, elderly, chronically ill and the illegals. Who can afford a place to live in California (much less elsewhere) on minimum wage?

Qatar, largely, and Iran. It's a matter of priorities.
