You can also own a Skyline in Canada I think. You can't own one in America because of the right hand drive and some other areas whey they say it cant pass a crash test. Some of the older ones can be registered but not one like the pic which is the one people want.

Yeah he could own one if he wanted but he wouldn't. He is not even a big Ferrari guy but he loves Lamborghini. So to me he has zero taste in cars. Ferrari is the clear choice for having too much money.

so because a 25 year old can decorate cakes faster than the 35 yr old who has been there 10 years the youngin' should get the shift?

not on my watch....people should feel comfortable with their seniority and not have to worry about a junior persons feelings when grabbing shifts,,....specially since the senior workers are generally a bit older than the junior workers in many instances....

if you want choice shifts try sticking to a job long enough to attain seniority...you know?....like those other people did that are more senior....they deserve some respect and the shifts

i would be a bad boss i guess too because im more like ML....best worker gets the shifts regardless of age or seniority ..its not like a union job

someone is bugging me to work on their skidoo...i hate those damn things...and people always wait until the day before a huge storm to fix anything ffs...we had a whole damn summer to fix it but now its a hurry because its supposed to snow overnight

i think there are some grey areas. most places that ive seen seniority, and the pay raises that leads to over time, tend to do less. making the newer younger people to carry the weight. if you are carrying your weight then by all means stay, get the good shifts. but i wouldnt pay someone more for less returns. youd be taking a pay cut or an hours cut if you slack off.

but i dont have employees. i have me. when i dont do shit, i dont get shit. i cant justify a big purchase if im behind on chores. i skip gifting holidays. im a punishing self-employer too.

OMG! I think my son has said the exact same thing...except he did add in the several million/billion? dollars Leno has invested, and he named a singular car or 2 that he thought was "alright" and of course I don't remember any of the specifics of what he liked...aside from corvettes.

The son works (a side job) running the computer in a football box, and the box owner is a dude with an enormous building filled with collector cars. I don't think you call a place that hold that kind of money/cars a garage. ;) According to the son the box owner has better taste than Jay Leno. lol

In the restaurants where I've worked, the worse shifts and the hardest jobs were given to the newest people IF they could do them. If and when a newbie couldn't hang with the old ones, they were gone. period. However, when newbies performed as wanted, then those with "seniority" got to do even less than normal since they ALREADY had their pick of the most choice jobs. When overtime would be offered to those with the almighty seniority, they would 1st find out what the job would be...and if it was going to involve very much work or hard work, they would most usually pass it off to the "newbies".

I think a person should be given overtime based on their performance. Screw a bunch of seniority when they aren't even coming close to performing and getting the results/yields of the new employee. :)

Edit: and I've been that new employee that busted their ass and got offered the overtime. :)

No because the shift was not for decorating cakes at all, it was to work on the bread side, which the older woman doesn't do at all. So my boss had to cut my shift and couldnt replace me with anyone else.

I also can't afford to wait around for 10 years in a job that isn't giving me the hours I was told I would get when I was hired just to gain this magical seniority thing. I'm young, so don't berate me for not sticking around places long enough. I'm not old enough to have been working that long. I was with my last major job for 4 years solid until I finished school. Now I'm trying out a few different jobs related to my field, and I don't love this one. Sue me.

The old "paying your dues" approach doesn't work very well anymore. Who even knows which companies will be around ten years from now? Workers who hang around waiting for good things to come their way often find out that they were waiting for nothing.

Good managers want to reward the best employees, which is better for the customers and investors. When the boss wimps out and goes strictly with seniority on everything, all the best young employees end up going elsewhere, and the tired old slackers stay forever.
