This nation has a long history of homelessness related to a 3rd world level of inequality, abusive promotion of drugs by big pharma and a high tolerance for the pain of others. It’s got nothing to do with sanctuary cities or other red herring issues raised by the conspiracy crazies in Trumps circle. Remember the peace and love of the hippies, extend a hand to others and help build a more inclusive and caring society. We are all in this lifeboat together and pointing fingers just makes all of us less safe.

What do you find desirable about the 3rd world?

Do you want your country to become the 3rd world?

In most 3rd world places I’ve been to, the life expectancy is significantly lower, crime is rampant and police lack resources, garbage is strewn everywhere as there is little regard for the environment.

I’m not saying all citizens from the 3rd world are bad people. I just think we need to be mindful of who we allow in to stay. Besides, mass immigration from the 3rd world hasn’t proved to help better those countries anyway

The two key things that define third world are

1. Lack of government oversight and control so a select few can rig the system
2. No human rights either due to religious views of no government to enforce it

Both these views are Libertarian like yourself don't you think? This is the idea that the free market and strong will survive without interference. And there is no hate speech or racism so why have any laws on it?

What makes you think people living in these conditions automatically bring it with them when they have infrastructure protecting them? I think without realizing you are implying they are different somehow and not able not live in a 1st world way.

For the record folks, "3rd World" is an archaic term. It goes back to the cold war.

1st world nations were aligned with NATO.
2nd world nations were aligned with the Eastern Bloc.
3rd world nations were not aligned with either.

What most folks refer to as "3rd world" these days are Developing Nations, but that's not true of all of the former 3rd world nations. Many of them in South America and Africa were already developed during the cold war. They're just regular countries today.

 

Most of the reason 3rd world nations are not well off is because there isn’t much economic freedom or civil liberties.

 

And the U.S. seems to be headed in the same direction, thanks not to illegal immigrants but to right wing ethno-nationalists. Trump is looking more and more like the Third World dictators he admires.

 

And lack of educational opportunities.
I think it's fair to say that most third world countries have an agrarian based culture/economy. Stongmen come in, promise the people the world, and steal the rug from under them.

 

SO who really is the stupid ones, the Democrats or the Republicans?

Well there is an epidemic running through the GOP right now---a personality cult. Personality cults are irrational and demonstrate a lack of reason. Personality cults do not have a history of long time success. The idealistic goals of their leaders are never met.

But in any event time and history will truly decide. Either Trump will fail and sooner or later history will judge him as an egotistical racist criminal that fleeced the country left and right. Or he will achieve some kind of economic miracle where we all will be wealthy and there will no longer be a need for social safety nets. If it is the first outcome, then it is the Republicans that were wrong and stupid. If it is the second case then the Democrats will have been the wrong and stupid ones.

History is already giving us a peek into the likely outcome with this COVID-19. So far it is not looking so good for the Republicans.

The intelligence of the republicans is knowing that the lefts interest is not about the people within. The left has lost sight. Lost the ability to think. Believes what they are told. Obama was a joke, a nightmare, a divisive asshole who the left refuse to recognize Him for what he truly was. What Clinton was. He has brainwashed you! I wish you, the left, would wake up.
