Having a hippie handbook on how to be the stereotypical hippie, sounds like it would defeat the purpose of the counterculture.
I HAVE to get this book! I'm leaving for the store in a few minutes actually, i'll see if i can pick it up while i'm out.
i got it as a joke. but i will tell you that the vegan chocolate cake recipe in there is the best i have ever had! its very yummy!
Like everyone above has said, this book is my Bible. It's witty and adorable and often proves to be quite useful.
i have spent a bit of my summer doing some things from this book. vegan chocolate cake. yum! am growing two avacado seeds. i dress and have my hair already like there. and i am going to tie dye when i get back from visiting my family. :daisy:
Also have Living on the Earth, as someone mentioned before. I love this book. Some of the stuff isn't very practical advice, as least not for me, but much of it is interesting, if nothing else. I'd recommend this and The Hippie Handbook; I love them both.
I too read the Hippie Handbook. It comes across as a humorous reading, but, infact it's a delight and very realistic book. I enjoyed reading all about what you could learn about Hippies and it reminded me of the reality of it all. It's a wonderful book and I encourage one and all to look into it either for a fun read or memories of today and long ago with a smile. Enjoy
I got it on Amazon.com for 2 dollars. I love it..it was kind of a joke at first but it has some cool stuff in it
You could get this book in any Barnes and Noble. Pretty cool. Don't read too much into it. I, however, loved the part where it teaches you how to spot out an undercover cop at a festival. It says that one of the ways is to see if they are carrying a copy of the Hippy Handbook, or if they are wearing sandals with socks on... haha.
I got that book about two years ago... It's great! Everyone needs to know how to dumpster dive and milk a goat, it's essential. Another great book would be 'Living on the Earth' by Alicia Bay Laurel (as mentioned in previous posts). It was published 1971 and has absolutely everything in it from how to make peasant blouses to plant-based medicine. I highly recommend it.
