plus, being sucked up by a blackhole would definitely be the way to go if i were to die.

This machine is amazing, the biggest science experiment in history. Entirely built to settle once and for all the problem of matter having mass. There is a cool BBC Video on this thing here...

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4709224114803845366&hl=en

Really goes into good detail about partial physics and why this is being built. They say the probability of making a black hole is not really likely considering the scale of mass were talking about, its considered to be highly unstable and will fall apart the moment its made.

The thing this machine is built to test for is called a Higgs Boson. To test the theory of the higgs field giving some but not all matter mass. Really cool stuff.

They say the most astounding and fascinating thing some physicists hope to see that the Higgs doesn't exist. That would show that we've really got something wrong in our view of the universe!! :D So no matter how the outcome it will be an exciting time for everyone.

My friend's stepdad was actually one of the physicists working on the development team for the LHC.

    I feel kinda cool.

    Yes. This one.

175 metres (570 ft) beneath the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva.
