They are playing Les Paul guitars. Here are a couple in a similar vein. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtvT_hOC80A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoCkYpK9z5U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eJWc0TGmt8
I love Junior Brown! Excellent mix of country, blues and surf rock He also kind of invented his own guitar. I think he calls it the "guit-steel"
How about "The Greatest Unknown Guitarist in the World" known as "the man who tumbled the stones down" for turning down an invitation to join The Rolling Stones. Jump to 2:45 if you want to skip the vocals.http://youtu.be/lLhdS-8-YS8 I saw him in a concert in Pittsburgh with an audience of several thousand people. He walked out on stage carrying his own amp, plugged in his guitar and stood there and played all by himself for the entire show. No accompaniment at all, and it was good. (At least I think it was him!) Check out the link.
Another great: 3:13 for the instrumental part. http://youtu.be/n9T06UfP1S0 And he does one of the best covers of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" unfortunately it doesn't appear to be on You Tube.
So here's Dave Mason's cover: http://youtu.be/OLVIRCLHZLg Mason was a friend of Hendrix and played 12 string on Hendrix's version.
Yeah some of the stones pissed in his beer too, those vulgar puds... http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/keith-richards-the-rolling-stone-blues-today-19980525 Kieth Richards; I saw Roy in '73 at the auditorium theater in Denver. One of my earliest concerts and the first time I experienced a 'blues' crowd. They applauded after every guitar solo! It was an amazing performance. Roy is one of my earliest influences, My uncle turned me on to his second album. Written by Stevie wonder and performed here by one of Roys biggest fans, this song is a tribute to Roy Buchanan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC02wGj5gPw
^^^ I saw Journey when they toured that album. Mcnichols sports arena, Denver. Obstructed view seats were 8 bucks. Ended up being behind the stage right above Ansley Dunbars drum kit. Incredible Rock fusion. That was a time when I thought Rock music was really going places and Journey was one of the bands going there. Turns out this kind of music was commercially unviable for them. Too bad. This is one my band covered. I loved soloing on this progression. You'll just have to believe me when I say, we had the drummer for it! (Wherever you are man, I miss ya Tony...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HAp-CsRsZ0
