Who gets your vote ? For me, it's a no brainer. Judas Priest Defenders of the Faith A totally kick ass show packed with everything you would ever want to hear ( almost ! ) Priest in their prime were untouchable, the kings of metal ! You should have seen the crush in front of the stage at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio in July '84 ! The huge metal barricade bending back and forth from the force of the crowd ebbing and flowing like some human tide. the stage was a 3-D representation of the Metallian creature from the album cover in gleaming silver. youtube has a show from the tour that anyone can check out if interested just enter "judas priest montreal 84" and it will pop right up who gets your vote?
Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, Alice in Chains.. Judas and Megadeath we had front row seats and my friend set his hair on fire. It was classic roar. Rob Halford pointed at my friend who wasnt hurt and continued on.. Megadeath and Alice Copper..
from wik During the tour for Painkiller in August 1991 at a show in Toronto, Halford rode onstage on a large Harley-Davidson motorcycle, dressed in motorcycle leathers, as part of the show. He collided with a half-raised drum riser and fell off the motorcycle, breaking his nose.[4] After regaining consciousness, Halford returned and performed the whole concert. In the band's Behind the Music episode, Halford named the accident as one of the events that caused the rift between him and the rest of the band that would eventually force them apart. I was doing a spotlight for the show in Toronto where rob crashed.....the other members of the band barely even looked over at him when it happened....roadies came out and dragged him backstage while the band finished the opening song ive seen quite a few metal shows....I enjoyed metallica at mlg in Toronto the most
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters_of_Rock_Tour_1988 88 monsters of rock.. that was pretty good ..
the 23 times i have seen Disturbed were awesome!! the 6 times i have sen Dream Theater never dissapointed either. I been to so many concerts though....
i saw the Akron Rubber Bowl stop on the Monsters tour I went on day one which was the hottest day of the summer if i remember right. It was almost 120 degrees on the field that day, crazy hot !
Ozzfest The year I went because uhhh... I went. I saw Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, Rob Zombie, System of a Down, Meshuggah, Glassjaw, Otep, Lost Prophets
GNR/ Metallica @ 3rivers.. I was serving water to Iraqis so I missed it,, Highway of death was the greatest amount of carnage Id ever seen in one place.. I was only 21yrs old..
Best slayer concert i ever went to was Luna Park in Sydney, one of those ones where they play Reign in Blood in full, no other concert has ever come close to that, everyone went absolutely nuts, i went nuts, twas nuts
Sugar at UCL early '90s.Not classic metal by genre but loud and heavy as fuck.I remember rolling around in the pit and catching stage divers. They were riding on the wave of grunge and bands like Nirvana and it was great to see Bob get the sales and critical acclaim he deserved.
Best Metal acts I've seen in a non-festival venue: Rage Against the Machine: The Battle of Los Angeles Tour. I felt like the bulding would implode at any moment from the energy of the band and fans. Tool live. I saw them on 4-aco-dmt and MDMA, likely the first and last time I'll meditate at a Metal concert. I also saw them at Cochella which was great.
Enslaved, Taake, Emperor, Satyricon, Pentagram, Therion, first time I saw Iron Maiden, or Dimmu Borgir, or Finntroll (at Summerbreeze, Germany where my friends and me were behaving terribly but had such a good time, I saw Amorphis there as well ) Blind Guardian at Wacken (pleasant suprise, Helloween was really good there too while I'm not a big fan of both. These shows and sounds (and all the fans in the audience) were great if you can bear power metal) and many stoner stuff like Electric Wizard, Earthless, Orange Goblin and if i name more we're crossing over in the rock section (Hawkwind for instance!!) Black Sabbath with Ozzy of course. Just because they're one of my favourites and I was so glad to see them perform live I'm certain I'm forgetting some legendary performances. I went to a lot of metal shows and festivals. Ah yes: Ministry at Wacken is one of those examples! I'm bad at picking favourites. I enjoyed the shit out of many shows, often for a lot of different reasons.
No idea, but I tend to really enjoy going to death metal tours. I'm going to the Summer Slaughter tour 2016, and I attended 3 others last year (Cannibal Corpse, Origin, Krisiun)
Wow lucky! I want to go to Wacken & Summerbreeze... pretty much tour Europe's metal scene. Bucketlist
Add Party san on your list! Not for the power metal though Where it comes to metal I'm now more into the smaller festivals (trve & kvlt no, jk! I just prefer the atmosphere and smaller stages), but definitely glad I went to Wacken several times and Summer breeze (which was at a freaking parking lot back then!) and Party san.
