In the future message boards will have a ticker (like a news ticker) in place of the topic's title heading, so that members can put more words into the topic's title field.
That would be nice, but with our global forums, it can be difficult to say the least. I wish every city had a personal forum for that city. I live in a major city, Houston and cant really find a good forum, both personal or general.
The problem with a lot of forums, is that they become a magnet for people who cannot be bothered to live in the real world. That attractive girl who starts chatting and asking for a few pictures, could well be a grubby gay guy, twice the age he posted, sitting in his pigsty bedroom with his pants around his ankles. It happens all the time. HF is one of the few sites where most people are genuine and the mods use their common sense.
i think there will always be a place for sharing non-mainstream and especial special interest technolgies. never saw much point in generalized mainstream social contact servers besides here. i think people may eventually loose interest in places like twitnest and myface. or maybe that's just me. but sharing specific interests is what the net was all about before buisness discovered its potential as a self promotional platform. you could find specific answers to specific technical questions, instead of someone trying to sell you a book about it. i don't know if we'll ever get back there, but the current underlying assumptions will continue to change, as everything else does. i don't claim to predict what they'll change to, but there are assumptions that the way nature in the real universe works, will not allow to remain eternally unchanged, just as their past was not as many who had not lived insist for the moment it was.
Actually members can add keywords to threads, a link appears to add tags at the bottom of every thread. It aids searches. I added a couple of tags below. I know it's not the same as title, but it helps
