This is an interesting take on the early 19th century story. The overall tone is quite depressing, like a Penny dreadful. And the sets are amazing, they really capture the overall grime and disgusting side of lower class London. Like Bowie's part as Tesla in "The Prestige" (a most excellent production), they have managed to sneak in another brilliant historical figure here, Ada Lovelace. Instead of making pattern cards for the Jacquard loom, she's designing gearworks for a life size automaton. If you're looking for fast action, this isn't the source. But it's an excellent period piece that presents the story from a very different angle. Give it a go folks The Frankenstein Chronicles (TV Series 2015– ) - IMDb
Hope it doesn't turn out to be a cliche. Too many Frankenstein stories out there it starts to get repetitive.
