Mom's definition of a fisherman: A jerk at one end of a pole waiting for a jerk at the other end.

1st Rock Bass of the year. I love catching these guys over any other fish. Also had a turtle checking out what's going on. Probably looking for food.

 

This thread will not die. I won't let it.
Anyways. I like these colours.

 

Been a while since I put anything in here. Late summer fishing can be difficult around here, but there's still fish to be had. A couple more outings in the fishing boat, then it'll be time to get the other boat out.

 

Sunnies are good eating.

 

Yes they are! Perfect for fish sandwiches. Walleyes (the bigger fish) are my favorite though. Perfect white meat, tastes so good!

Soon I'll be going from pursuing white meat to pursuing red meat. But I won't put those pics up on this site. I'll be ostracized.

Ehh post them anyway. Anyways. I've never had walleye let alone ever catch one.

 

Walleye taste awesome. Very white meat, kinda flakey. The good ones to eat are the 14" to about 20" (1.5lb to 3lb). Anything bigger is not usually that great, and are the ones that reproduce, so you want to let those go.

If we get this deer which is roaming near our woods, I'll certainly post a picture of it. Ducks & geese I won't though.

 

BTW...daughter's trip to Newark went real well. They helped a lot of people and a school too. Visited NYC last day there.

From Thursday. Fished a private pond in the afternoon and then sent on the river in the evening.

 

That pike is really dark compared to what we see around here

There's a bunch that live in a private pond. Had bass and sunnies in it as well. So whomever put these in it created a problem. Caught bass the last few times there. Now it's nothing but these guys.

 

Yep, pike are ferocious and will even eat more than they can handle sometimes!

I need to take my boy to physical therapy this morning, then drop him off at school. After that it's off to the lake to see how the early fall bite is.

 

This post makes me miss Deranged. He would send me fishing pictures all the time. That guy was hardcore about fishing. Whatever he's doing these days, I hope he still has people scratching their heads. He was a good guy.

 

I plan on spending the weekend fishing. It'll be to cold soon to go out. Missed a lot of days fishing this year. I'm merely disappointed in that. Wet hot summer it has been.

 

2 biggest I caught over the weekend. Have yet to catch anything bigger this year. Well. A fish is a fish.
