There's a large debate in the nudist world about resorts. The reasons for gender balance has been stated ad nausium.

Resorts do just about everything they can to discourage younger visitors. No youth activities, no photography (as in no posting or tweeting your activities, I.e. No pics), and treating younger nudists like they're still under adult supervision (though to be honest, some DO need supervision if our neighborhood is an indication).

Back in the 50's through the 70's, nudist resorts were VERY active, happening places to go. Always something going on. Nudity was mandatory. Then the conservative 80's hit, clothing optional began it's insidious creep, fewer people became nude at resorts, just skinny dipping at the pool and back into their wraps. Now those resorts are all stagnant as far as younger nudists are concerned, and the residents just want peace and quiet.

Because of the C/O debacle, many women won't go nude, because others around them are dressed. Fewer women and families at the resorts, fewer single men allowed.

Well, being a widower, I've been turned away from attending a club or park because that particular park wanted "gender balancing". And, I've been a card-carrying member of our national organization for 30+ years, and went to nudist places with my wife while she was alive. But their concern was that they didn't want their female guests to be vastly out-numbered by unattached male guests and therefor feel uncomfortable and leave the club or park. Technically, it would have met their ridiculous rules if I had gone out and hired a hooker to get through the gate for the day. Thankfully, the Park in which I now live has a policy of "Your behavior is your passport". And, they welcome singles of all genders, as well as couples and families.

The comment that the poster said he was told strikes me as being a bit over the top and inappropriate. But, I could see it happening.

Well, actually no. But I'll plead the fifth on the name of the club. Actually was in another state. PV I found to be rather "clique-ish". The want you to be a condo owner and adhere to their plethora of rules. I'd rather chill out with my Dip Family! They are more my speed, and also a six time national award winner for "Friendliness". Our sign out front says "5 times", but we've actually won it six.

Now you have me wondering if we have crossed paths at some point. Hmmm?

I called a naturist resort that was an hour from where I was living at the time. The gentleman answered my questions and invited me to visit the next weekend which just happened to be National nude weekend. I was escorted around the place and immediately felt at home. Over the years I met men, women that I call dear friends. My experience has been positive.

One day I found out about a resort near me where one could swim suit free without hassle. While I had never been uncomfortable being undressed for short periods of time in places where it was expected, I had never gone around nude for an extended period of time and certainly not in mixed company. My first project, therefore, was to be comfortable with myself nude for no particular reason. I practiced doing that by going around my apartment nude.

I went to the resort and once again I could enjoy skinny-dipping.

Before going home I took a warm shower and went outside in the warm air and sunshine to dry off. That convinced me that this was how we were meant to be. That was my first real nudist experience. I have given up the textile life and now am clothed only when required.
