People are saying that The Sun will start printing 7 days per week now, half jokingly. But maybe it's not so funny...

From just over 1 week ago.

If I could believe in any of the christian drivel I would believe murdock is the anti christ, certainly a minion of Satan. Its obvious that he's a soulless bastard who has no limits on how low he would stoop for power and money. Wouldn't it be a beautiful thing if the corrupt pig ended up in prison with other common criminals ...perhaps cellmate to someone he once vilified in his filthy publications. If that were to happen I could believe in justice...and if frogs had wings... Ahh well, tis sweet that some justice is coming about.

An obvious point just raised on QT, that newspapers are becoming obsolete as media outlets for news and political propaganda- it's all going teh internets

And this whole scandal comes almost exactly at the same times as HuffPo launch their new UK based current events web page, challenging the Guardian's left wing audience.

I don't know much about Huffington, can we trust them to be partial and radical, and not to become another propaganda tool for electing governments?

Hugh Grant was effing brilliant on QT tonight I have to say I agree with Lilylou. He has gone up in my estimations. To be fair i think a lot of the bad films he starred in were not really so much his fault, he seems like quite a cool guy.

For the benefit of some who might not know, Hugh Grant made the headlines about 10 or so years ago when he got caught paying Brooklyn whores to suck him off in his car, because being married to one of the sexiest hollywood actresses of that period wasn't enough.

And here he is on QT as the ambassador of the new world of journalistic ethics! It's both bizarre and intruiging. I have to say I have no amount of respect for him for this at the moment.

I hope this begins the decay of news corp as a whole. If this kind of corruption is present in English tabloids...imagine what there is on this side of the pond.

I hope they burn murdoch alive.

Oh ok.. well I heard also on the radio a little while ago that police had turned their enquiry to include the Daily Star as well, but as yet I've not heard anything else about that.

Stands to reason that if one is doing it, then they all probably are (the bloids anyway)

    EDIT- here is the story

I'm kind of tempted to buy a copy of the NOTW on sunday for a souvenier, but that would mean me giving money to Rupert Murdoch. Maybe I'll steal one.

Let's hope Mr. Grant wakes up some of his fellow celebrities while he's at it! And Murdoch facing real justice? I find that very hard to believe. I can imagine if his empire fell then it would be an illusion of change. There would be different names, different faces but the strings would still be pulled by the same puppetmasters.

But still, GREAT NEWS! Come on, human race, I know you can still do it!

    It just keeps getting better...

It's funny how all this started with NotW voicemail hacking, and now it appears that an executive at News International has deleted MILLIONS OF EMAILS from their headquarters. Hopefully it's been backed up and the police will eventually obtain them. I'm sure they contain tons of even more damaging evidence against News International and News Corp. cause this stink goes all the way to Murdock.

Renault has decided to review all its advertising with News International (the parent company of NotW).

UPDATE: It's official now, Renault has severed all relationships with NI.
A third person has now been arrested over this. They only say he's 63 years old.

The News of The World was the outfit who mis-reported a Brian Jones drugy interview as actually being fellow band-mate: Mick Jagger.

Jagger rightly filed a lawsuit for libel, and was on the way to victory when The News of The World fingered the Stones to police about a drug party at Keith Richards home.

When Police raided Keith's home: Jagger and Richards were busted for posession. The lawsuit fell apart and the tabloids has a field day reporting about the Redlands bust.
This was about 1968, which was prior to current ownership of the paper.

This trash culture was in place before Murdoch. not that he is a saint but it does not begin and end with Murdoch no matter how one dislikes his politics.

    :peace:

63 year-old man from Surrey. Surrey's an English shire for those that don't know. He is believed by most to be a Private Investigator hired by the NotW and a piece in the puzzle of the police bribery allegations, as the arrest was made as part of "Operation Elveden". Does this mean that Coulson is squeaking to save his own skin?
