Invented centuries ago, it is perhaps the MOST overused symbol in modern languages... especially English.

How often do you use an exclamation point as an explanation?!!!!

    Or otherwise?!!!

    !!!!

graffic visual representation in simplist possible form; sword of damoclese. you have the long line, virtical, on the top, and the dot beneath it wich is our head, with the sword hanging over each.

read this in some story some where, no idea if its the actual origen of the symbol.

I try not to overuse it, but sometimes a period just won't do.

Omg, I love the Seinfeld/Lippman reference...."It was cold outside, so I decided to put on...my sweatshirt! Elaine, get rid of the exclamation points." lol

The exclamation mark, !, or exclamation point, is a punctuation mark usually used after an interjection or exclamation to indicate strong feelings or to show emphasis. The exclamation mark often marks the end of a sentence, for example: "Watch out!". Similarly, a bare exclamation mark is often used in warning signs.

  12. I overuse them on forums and emails, often going back and removing some. Other times with people I’m close to it fun to just go crazy with em.
