Why Trump could face a Jimmy Carter scenario The last president facing re-election troubles like Donald Trump's was Jimmy Carter in 1980. Injured by recession and impotent against a national crisis, Carter lost big. To describe the current incumbent's predicament, substitute Trump's botched coronavirus response for Carter's inability to free American hostages seized by Iran. Then look at the numbers. Today, Trump's national polling deficit of around 10 percentage points matches Carter's popular vote deficit against Ronald Reagan -- who won a 44-state landslide while fellow Republicans seized control of the Senate. Trump's base keeps him afloat The first is the sturdiness of the narrow Trump political base, centered on less-educated, rural, evangelical and blue-collar Whites.
60 Minutes aired the interview of Trump by Leslie Stahl where he walked out. He kept claiming the economy was doing great and they were turning the corner on the coronavirus when the stats show otherwise. He claimed his current rallies are the biggest ones he's ever had when the truth is they're much smaller than in the past 4 years. When Stahl challenged him on these claims he became defensive and accused her of being negative before finally storming off the set. When I see shit like this I wonder, how can he possibly be re-elected? How indeed.
I still think the Republicans are gonna cheat, Trump is gonna challenge the election and hope Barrett and the Supremes will do a replay of Bush v. Gore. I doubt it will work.
That is most definitely their plan. The amount of early voting, combined with the surge of covid likely affecting voting on Nov 3rd, is messing things up for them.
She asked if he was ready for some tough questions, and then he claimed the press always treats him unfairly. You know how he always wants people who work for him to be loyal, he wants the press to be loyal also. The sign of a true authoritarian, and the sign of someone who thinks this is 1920.
Trump has been holding multiple rallies in swing states. I think some of his close allies should help him out by going on the speaking circuit themselves as surrogates. Steven Miller would be my choice. That should cinch the election--in Biden's favor! Alternatively, he could haunt houses on Halloween.
Republicans have always cheated and they still are cheating. Any dirty tricks one can read about are ALWAYS done by republicans. Been that way as long as I can remember. The current interference with the election deserves heavy duty legal action.
I often wonder how many of these people are truly trump supporters? How many people just want to go to a circus? How many people just look at it as a farewell tour?
Correct there are people out there with no party affiliation whatsoever, they don’t care about the issues, they just like the chaos trump creates The caption under a picture of Trump should read “For entertainment purposes, only”
We could of course make up similar memes: Putin for Trump, Kim Jong-un for Trump; Erdogan for Trump. And they'd be more honest. Since the pandemic, China's trade deficit is back to where it was at the start of the Trump administration. So maybe Xi really doesn't give a rats ass who wins the election.
Love and politics don't mix 50 Cent slams Donald Trump after Chelsea Handler's sexy challenge 50 Cent is all for 'another spin' with Chelsea handler Chelsea Handler may have finally convinced her ex, 50 Cent, to support Joe Biden, despite Fiddy's open disdain for the Democratic presidential nominee's tax plan, which would hike taxes for the very rich. It seems the rapper caught wind of Chelsea's recent appearance on "The Tonight Show," where she chatted with Jimmy Fallon about her previous social media pleas to Fiddy to stop backing Donald Trump. Speaking to Jimmy, Chelsea teased that she'd be happy to, "seal the deal in more ways than one if he changes his mind and publicly denounces Donald Trump,"
That's basically how you tell the difference between writers in the media that know what they are talking about and those that dont Talk of trade figures themselves are largely inconsequential, last 6 months the value of the USD/CNY rate has dropped, making chinese exports more expensive, China has sold off a fair chunk of US treasury notes, which lessens their hold on US monetary policy Extend that by a further 6 months, Chinese exports are more expensive, you know what happens Although, thanks to Covid, it was pretty inevitable that every country in the world, not just the US was going to spread risk to other markets and not be too reliant on China The trade war did work, in that it put a serious dent in China's ability to manipulate its own currency, but covid will be the death punch Three guesses which President was in Charge whilst US debt China owned doubled from 600 billion to 1.2 trillion ( hint: 2008 - 2016)
Well, yes, this many people followed Saddam Hussein, followed Bin Laden, followed Joe Stalin, followed Ho Chi Minh, followed Ernesto Che Guevara, followed Adolph Hitler, and to a greater extent, followed Robert E Lee.
