yeah, in the background, i see that too, that's halarious! LOL!
actually, this pic is at about 6 weeks.... i havn't used any KB since the 2nd or 3rd week, but i did use the aloe tightening gel in the beginning, and it's lovely :) i'm not crazy about the smell of peppermint, so i don't use KB soap, and i don't use wax - just used it the very first day to tame the frizz for work.... so, these are au naturel... just backcombed :) and washed with dr. bronners

yeah, i think they've got peppermint, tea tree, and maybe rosemary in the bar.... don't get me wrong, it is a nice smell, i've just always had an aversion to mint smells in general... must have been traumatized with an after eight at christmas or something....

the KB aloe gel gives me flakes too, but it rinses out easy enough. i LOVE the smell of it, that citrusy-lime smelll..... mmmmmm, HEAVEN!!!! but, yeah. it's not very useful. i actually froze mine last night, hopefully it's still good.... not that i ever use it, but, whatev :) i have so many "extra" pots of this and that from KB. it's ridiculous. iv had dread 4 times now, and each time, because i'm stupid, ordered more stuff.... i'd comb out my dreads, then stash my stuff, forget where i put it, then order more... then find it a week or two after i got my new stuff. smart girl, this one :)

i think maybe the aversion is from working in the bar. when you're really busy and hungry as hell but you don't have time to eat, so you pop a mint. bad hunger memories :)

but i LOVE aero chocolate mint bars.... now, if they could make a residue free soap that smelled of chocolate, that would be the day!

why do ya keep buying all the useless kboy crap didnt u realize it was a waste of money the 1st time?
the aloe gell u can grow yourself, they just add a ton of chemicals and crap ya dont want anyway

all ya really needed was sea salt (maybe 89 cents for a lifetime suppkly) aloe (a dollar or 3 for a plant that u can grow and harvest forever, or a couple bucks for a gallon of gel)
    thats it
pure chemical free, natural as can be..
and your not supporting peddlers of misinformation and harmful products

search your house, gather it all up, and send it back requesting your money back.
u probly wont get it back..theyre scammers after all, but its the principle of it, and they gotta be sent a message

i think it's just because, there isn't much info out there without really really searching for it about NOT using that stuff, so you don't really know any better.... the aloe gel has nothing bad in it. it's water, aloe, essential oils, and sea salt, but it IS expensive, and not really neccessary.... as for the wax.... well, yes, we all know now not to use it, but HAD we known that THEN, we would have bought it! LOL :)
my first set of dreads, i actually had for about a year and a half... they were actually really nice, i just needed a change. the second set was fucked because of wax.... the third set... well, i was fucked that summer, and decided to comb them out because i was dumb.... and now these ones... aren't coming out :) and not using ANY KB products at the moment...
but, honestly, the soda soak.... i'v had dreads on and off for the last 4 years and i only found out about that THIS year!!! wtf!? it's hard to find the GOOD info out there... so, i think that's the main issue surrounding the constant throwing money down the toilet on useless crap.... too bad, really.

Things are slowly changing I reckon. The other day I Googled something..."making dreadlocks" I think or something along those lines...and DHHQ didn't come up on the first page of search results.

totally agree. i spent most of 2005 looking for info about dreads, and researching the idea, and EVERY site i found was a pro-wax site. there was never anything else to suggest there was another method of getting dreads

i was totally clueless until last sept when i found you guys.. i remember i was in town and some kid came up to me and asked about how i got my dreads and i just said 'dont do it the way i did, dont use wax' and he said 'well what do you use?' and i just shrugged and replied 'havent got a clue..' because i didnt have a clue back then, but now i do :cheers2:

EXACTLY!!! exactly the same thing! i didn't know NOT to use wax until this time around! i knew i didn't really want to use it before, but i didn't know that it was ok NOT to use it! the information that was available at the time made it sound like having dreads depended on having waX! LOL! i wasn't even concerned about the insta-dreads thing, i knew they took some time to develop, but i thought the wax was NECESSARY.... i even talked to a girl who's got wicked long dreads, she's had them for years, and she said she waxed hers too.... so, basically, just lack of information. but it IS getting better for sure.
but, i will admit, probably the biggest reason i didn't want to use wax, even this time around, was the inconvenience of it. not necessarily because i knew i didn't have to. weird, huh?
