its been only 15 days since i last brushed my hair and im already seeing some great progress, i have about 4 knots so far that are trying to dread

just curious, i have a lot of loops forming in those particular dreads, will they tighten up and disapear??

loop do tighten into dreads they msybe loopy and lumpy awhile but they add charache=ter
if you look closely at most natural freads (even severely ovrrworked dreads cant have all the charachter taken outta them) they are almost never perfectluy round perfectly straight but instead hae unique features lumps spirals ripples twists u name it the lops u have now will become the fingerprints of the dresds when mature, giving each its unique sharachter...love em

ok i tried finding the best example i could but this isnt the best

if u look at each dread close though you see lil bends bumps kinks all sorts of unique techtures that give each its owen landscape
u donthowever see the loops your seeing now thadey are in the infancy stage they need to become dresds then reaxh maturity
when mature each loop u have now will be just1 more interesting feature on the whole landscape

Hi all, found this site like most of you, google...its a life saver. Any way, had dreads 17 days, been obsessing over them for 4 yrs (long story). I live in Australia.... living the good life. :cheers2:

Sry for the old pic...too lazy at the moment to take another. They look different now there getting tighter quickly but they look thicker, i know it don't make sense but it is the way it is. Even over 7 days they look and feel allot better.

There obviously backcombed but I'm not using wax or anything, just the usual residue free shampoo once every 3 days. little palm rolling when i feel like it, seems like a habit already, some times i don't know I'm doing it till its too late.

well, off to float around in my pool, catch ya!

Hi there I don't have locks yet however I have wanted to start locks for a long time, and now im in the position to start I have a few final queries.

I should start by saying that i'm white, with blondie brown hair that gets tangled and knotted almost as soon as I walk outside.

    anyway..

    A. until today I had only really read up on a few sites, and as far as I was aware dread wax, locking peppa, and elastic bands were completely vital for having nice well formed locks, however I have read a few articles today where people are saying that these products are actually extremely bad for dreads, and that sites like dreadhead hq and knottyboy are giving out wrong information, I would like to hear some opinions?

    B. It was also said that clockwork rubbing, and palm rolling arent nescesary for nice dreads? I don;t see how this is possible, if you don't use these methods how is new hair supposed to lock up?

    c. does anyone swear by knotty boy or dreadhead hq etc?

    D. and finally can someone give me basic guidelines of how to make new growth at the roots knot up if i'm not using wax,

    thanks alot :)

rubbing is not needed excessive rubbing can brewak hairs even lead to dread loss
tooys take care of themselves u will always have an inch of loose hair though at the roots this gives them room to moive movement creates knots
    [IMG]
these were just allowed to happen, in the beginning i played with themn alittle though..and pout in a few beads
other then that i used nothing and did nothing
u say your hair wants to knot like crazy...let it
stop conditioning, stop combing use a non residue shampoo or soap
    wait
in s few weeks or less u will see em forming sections natiraly
rip 1 from another to prevent them from groiwing togetber too much (or if u want thicker..allow them to combine)
    wait
in a few months u should have great dreads

wearring a wool tam will help as well

dreadheadhq and knottyboty sell u a very expensive way to get instant results that do not last they make throw away dreads that quickly become gross and need to be cut

the best way to beautiful dreads is to simply let them happen over time

u can if u chose backcomb..oncve and thats it

palmrolling dont do alot except remove alotta uniqueness and over pakm rolling can lead to breakage as well
the best route is to let em happen
if your in a hurry..backcomb once then leave em alone

dont fall for scams..dreads happen if u just dont prevent them
u do not need to force what nature will give u if u stop forcing the haitr to unknot
