Having them tends to get you noticed ....when I was in Jamaica last month, everyone we met commented on my dreads, asking if I was a rasta. I had to admit to them that it only went as far as my hair, and that I didn't completely follow the Rastafarian way of life. Got a lot of respect from people though - kinda strange to get used to as I don't really get that here at home. Saying that, I did have one guy come up to me when I was out shopping the other week, who had dreads himself, and he sung me a song about happiness in dreading! Made me smile, having a complete stranger acknowledge me in that way. We all need to do that kinda stuff more often!

I also met a really nice Rastafarian one day whilst in Negril, who confided in me and showed me his 'secret hair' - two really long dreads which he had tied around his neck and didn't show to anyone. So yeah, it's kinda like being in a global 'family'.

Right......what's best to use to get beeswax out of my hair??

I had my roots tightened up whilst on holiday, which was kinda okay to start with, but now I am totally regretting having it done. It's just on the roots of my dreads.

NO WAX. Bloody good advice...wish I had heeded it. ArrrgghH!!!!!! :& :(

Any advice will be gratefully received. Cheers.

Id suggest dipping the dread in some really hot water.. maybe even boiling water... just dont want to burn yourself. when u wash your dread locks there like little sponges.. soo soak them in some hot water get the left over wax all hot and melty then just SQUEEEZZZZZ them and just try to get as much build up out. this maynot be very effective.. iv neer had to do it. i only used wax twice in the first week soooo GOODLUCK

and how much wax build up is there?. how long have u had your locks?

Either way dont use wax anymore, hair loves to dread its self and tighten its self!!!!! on it's own time scedual

    Peace an love

I've had my dreads since July, but only had the wax put on a month ago by some Jamaican ladies - there is about half and inch of wax coating each root. Some has worn off, but the rest has gone yucky.
That's the horrible thing - the rest of my dreads are perfect - it's just the roots...

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it ago and keep you posted.
