i am having a hard time getting my ends to adapt. that is about it. so some of them i cut off if i have had the dread long enough. did it hurt when you did that?

if you want nice round tips that are tight, pull the hair apart at the bottom (in different directions) so it created a knot that travels up the dread. do this until it you have most of the loose hair. with the remaining loose hair at the end, roll it in your palm all the time. its gets to be like a habit.. when you roll it (pretty hard too) , it will hopefully knot up into a ball. [IMG] hope this helps!

you have awesomeee dreadies! i love all your hempy stuff, it rocks

Whoa!!! Your dreads are like, Marley as man!!!!
    Huge-mungous big doubies!!!
    hehe very kool indeed[IMG].
Im thinking about getting dreads, but i dont think some of my family mambers would be to pleased with me if i did. And i like my hair being all smooth. Meh it'll pass and i'll get sick of looking normal. Definately want some though.

    Take care and be happy:).

not only am i having trouble with the tips but the middle of the dreads are having a hard time tighting like some others. they are knotty but if i wanted to i could stick my finger right thru it. Is this normal? I've tried wrapping them in hemp...any ideas?

AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH i hate bad dread advice!! (im sorry if that offended you) TRUST ME LORREL! leave them.. they will find their own way and their own light. Mine unravveled and remade themselfs.. there is no need for wax!! (UGH I CRINGE AT THE WORD, it does more damage that good) bands are not needed, i used them at first and all they did was make it look stupid.... embrace how your dreads are. Dreads are natural... they will tighten over time! theres NO way you will have wonderful dreads after only 3 months ... mine are at coming up to 10 months and they are looking much better, they looked like messy hair untill about 5 or 6 months. Just keep them clean... play with them with your fingers.. love them... dont use wax products and let them deal with themselfs. If you REALLY want to do something spray them finely with salt water (or lemon juice and water but that bleeches in sunlight) which will dry your hairs and make them knott better (the OPPOSITE of what wax does)

dreads are a long slow, never ending process and you should embrace this.... when you have a baby you dont instantly send them to university... you watch them grow, revel in their babylike ness ...scruffyness.. cuteness ...watch them mature into beautiful beings..... sounds silly but its the same with your dreads.
