The Dread Thread! *knoughty pictures inside*

do you smoke cigs or have bad b.o.? Because my dreads just smell like hair untill i wash them, they then smell like hemp sead oil and tea tree...

um no, I am a lil young for either. No I just have very oily hair and it stinks. Also, I put esensial oils in there, and if I dont wash them out then they go 'rotten'

they look like you twisted them, then rubber banded them, is that what you did?

 

My dreads never smell, and i only wash them once a month....do you put something in your dreads?

 

Hahahah somtimes i havent washed my hair for 3 months and they dont smell.. now i wash once every 2 weeks so 2 times a month.... but i have never had smelly dreads ever....... and i sweat a lot from longboarding and various activitys..... but in the summer i when to the ocean a lot and dunked my head.. allways let them air dry and still from all the water never had funky smellin dreads...

lol iv only had mine for 6 months so really i havent washed them much hehehehe but they smell great... i get my friend to stick the nose in there all the time.... ohh and when i wash it allso smells like tea tree oil hemp seed and ceederwood!!! ohhh i love my locks!!!!!!

 

ok I am interested in deading my hair and have a few questions...heres what my hair looks like (it's a picture of me and miami musician, the only one i could find), will they dread nicely? Also, will I have to shave my head if I dont want them anymore? Last and most important...I am studying to be a teacher and begin my student teaching in a high school classroom in February...is anyone aware of certain rules against dreads on teachers? Is there any way to pull them back so that they do not look like dreads? wishful thinking but just wondering. Thanks a lot.

I know what you mean, sometimes i forget to do it...and then its more then 2 months ago, they never smell! I'm glad

 

because you are so young it means your bodys still going through puberty. Thats why it get greasy and smells so bad, give it a few years and it will pass, hell i hd THE most greasyest hair when i was at school, i had to wash it every day because it was too greasy not to. But by the time i was 16 it was all cleared up.
I dont recoment putting essensial oils onto your hair if your hairs allready greassy... if you do want to i advice you mix it 2 part water 1 part oil and spray it finely onto your hair.
If you want to stop them from getting greassy, spray a mix of sea salt and water (or sea water) on to your hair every now and then, or spray a 1 part fresh lemon juice and 2 part water onto your hair (but this bleaches in the sun so be careful if you dont want blone locks) that will help with the greaseyness

I should have said that. I have a spray that makes my dreads smell better, and it helps with my dandruff. I also put a mix of apple vinigar and water, to help with locking, dandruff, and greasyness
(and I have blonde locks already)

 

well i have had mine for a very long time and never noticed a smell... sometimes i get a dry hair smell... thats all... hair smells good tho imo.

 

i love the smell of my dreads after ive burnt nag champa it hoplds the smell and i smell of nag champa aaaaall day

 

OHHHH MEEE TOOOO I love Nag Champa. I would suggest buying some Cedar wood essential oil, and before you burn the Nag drip some onto the stick incense and it will give a little bit of a beautiful spicy smell of a old growth forest its very very nice!



And I haven’t got the bead and letter yet.. I’m getting worried, I hope no other lucky person receives my gift. But im sure any day now it should arrive.
