@MeAgain, the real problem is that the lay-person doesn't know the situation with Ukraine. They won't understand all of that. I fear all this will be swept under the rug. You make it sound like a strong case, but I wish Congress and their committees could do what you've done here to illustrate the case for impeachment. I think what they have done (with the interview of the Inspector General I think he's called) so far has been ineffective. We got to see stonewalling, which is basically more of the same and America's attention span is short. We wait on baited breath for the next Congressional oversight, but when's that gonna be?
I agree that the majority of the American public has no idea what Trump is up to. As long as they have their SUVs and Dancing With the Stars, they're happy. Trump has already committed enough to have him impeached multiple times but the public doesn't care. This time it's a little simpler, especially since Trump has publicly admitted he'd take information against a political opponent from a foreign country. The Dems just have to get the public to put down their Candy Crush game and stick their heads' up into the real world.
The latest poll indicates that more Americans are coming around to impeachment, but are about evenly split: 43% in favor 43% opposed, with the rest undecided. And 43% is about the size of the Trump support base, which has held steady for three years. This really is a divided country. Support for impeachment jumps in new poll
And this notwithstanding the lockstep implacable opposition from the Republicans in Congress, who controlled the House after 2010. It takes two houses to tango legislatively.
I will probably get hated on for saying this, but when more people are interested in going to Burning Man , or invading Area 51, instead of paying attention to what's going on, it's no wonder that trump got elected.
Worse, it is a thoroughly confused country, with only one in ten who call themselves Libertarian knowing the actual definition and agenda of the party, while the other half believes the only solution to such political problems is to vote the bums out of office, because actual politics are beyond them and the entire vote has been gerrymandered to death. The civil war was the result of the same cannibalistic culture that was so insane they attacked the north, knowing they didn't stand a chance in hell. The Roman emperors killed each other in outrageous numbers, because there was nobody in charge around here, because white collar crime was legal for all practical purposes. Japan is the same, with their feudal lords making Machiavelli blush. Of course, nobody wants to go there in modern times, but our votes and voices no longer matter.
well, the demoncrats took the bait. they are at the point of no return, no turning back. see how happy shiny they are. except if they cant make it stick. that donkey is circling the drain now. poor donkey
There is no honor among thieves, and Donald Duck was elected against the wishes of his own party leaders in congress. They will not tell you how they vote, since your vote no longer matters anymore anyway. They know better than anyone, he hasn't got a chance in hell of being reelected, and they would be much happier with his Vice President in charge. If you think they are worried about anything sticking, think again. All they need is a vote of no confidence, and if Libertarians don't like it, they can vote democrat.
These guys believe anything Alex Jones says. It was Nixon and Kissinger who opened up relations with China. Bush and Reagan wanted big trade with China and their cheap labor so they could destroy Unionized Labor in America. Some of us were alive back then and witnessed what Republicans did to the working man in America.
I never referred to his son . A recording of Biden at the Council On Foreign relations exists . Have a listen .... or not . Biden describes the pressure applied to Ukraine as one billion dollars of aid that would disappear if a certain govt lawyer was not fired within 6 hours . Yep , they fired the son-of-bee (and on-time) - Oh ,that billion dollar man . Biden appears to be unethical and power-mad . For this he will be crucified , sacrificed by his own , even as they hold him innocent .
Yes, that "certain lawyer" was Viktor Shokin, the prosecutor whom the U.S. and its European allies viewed as an obstacle to judicial reform in the Ukraine. There is no dispute over the fact that Biden, allegedly on behalf of the Obama administration, threatened to withhold the aid unless Shokin was removed. Nothing illegal about that. It was the U.S.' money, and therefore appropriate to make sure it wasn't going down a rat hole. The question is whether or not Biden was motivated by a desire to protect his son, who was on the board of Bursima Holdings. Shokin claimed that he had been investigating Burisma, but Shokin's deputy provided documents to Bloomberg News indicating that the investigation into Burisma had been dormant. He said, she said. Anyhow, so far no evidence. I wouldn't judge this as evidence of being unethical or power mad, certainly not in comparison with the conduct that's been the norm in the Trump Administration--e.g., his shakedown conversation with the President of Ukraine.
The Trump administration is doing a shakedown of Ukraine to force it to dig up dirt on his political rival Biden so that it can get U.S. aid to try to defend itself against Trump's buddy, Putin, who already did the ultimate shakedown on Ukraine by invading and annexing Crimea. That's a double shakedown involving two mafia bosses who will do anything to stay in power. .
As a sidenote, Trump made a boneheaded remark when he said that Putin wouldn't invade Crimea. That was long after Putin had already invaded and annexed it.
And who was president that welcomed 1 million "illegals" into the country, in the mid 80s, and also welcomed those "commie" Cubans during the Mariel boat lift? Hint: he was a two bit actor. Republicans suffer from short, and selective memories.
