Giuliani is behaving as if he is a foreign agent for Trump when he isn't even in his administration.

Giuliani pursued shadow Ukraine agenda as key foreign policy officials were sidelined

    excerpt:

"President Trump’s attempt to pressure the leader of Ukraine followed a months-long fight inside the administration that sidelined national security officials and empowered political loyalists — including the president’s personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani — to exploit the U.S. relationship with Kiev, current and former U.S. officials said.

The sequence, which began early this year, involved the abrupt removal of the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, the circumvention of senior officials on the National Security Council, and the suspension of hundreds of millions of dollars of aid administered by the Defense and State departments — all as key officials from these agencies struggled to piece together Giuliani’s activities from news reports.

Several officials described tense meetings on Ukraine among national security officials at the White House leading up to the president’s phone call on July 25, sessions that led some participants to fear that Trump and those close to him appeared prepared to use U.S. leverage with the new leader of Ukraine for Trump’s political gain."

I'm thinking that too. I considered Cory Booker for second seat because he might bring in the Black Vote. But, I think the Black Voters have figured out Trump will send them out to the curb anyway so they might as well just vote for our ticket. I like O'Rourke because he would go after the guns and the White Nationalists. And, I have a soft spot in my heart for Irish folks. The important thing today is to plan on voting … just 12 month away now.

    excerpt:

"The former New York mayor appears to have seen Zelensky, a political neophyte elected president of Ukraine in April and sworn in in May, as a potential ally on two political fronts: punishing those Giuliani suspected of playing a role in exposing the Ukraine-related corruption of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and delivering political ammunition against Biden.

After the conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation of Russia’s role in the 2016 election, Giuliani turned his attention to Ukraine, officials said, and soon began pushing for personnel changes at the embassy while seeking meetings with Zelensky subordinates. He also had his own emissaries in Ukraine who were meeting with officials, setting up meetings for him and sending back information that he could circulate in the United States."

Giuliani's behavior sounds like he is part of a shadow government.

Trump has been complaining for years about a shadowy 'deep state'.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...18aaec-deec-11e9-be96-6adb81821e90_story.html

    excerpt:

"The perception of a parallel, hidden agenda intensified in the summer as officials at the NSC, Pentagon and State Department began reacting to rumors that hundreds of millions of dollars of military and intelligence aid to Ukraine was being mysteriously impeded.

“There were never any orders given, any formal guidance from the White House to any of the agencies,” said a U.S. official familiar with the matter. “And the NSC was scratching their heads: How is this possible?”

NSC officials, including Tim Morrison, who had replaced Fiona Hill as the senior director for European and Russian affairs, began organizing meetings to try to understand these hidden forces affecting Ukraine policy, officials said.

But even then, clear answers proved elusive. Officials were told that the money was being blocked by the Office of Management and Budget, without any accompanying explanation.

“It was bizarre,” the official said."

The public is deserving of an explanation of the source of and rationale for the extra $140 million to Ukraine. That's in addition to the $250 million approved by Congress that the Trump administration delayed issuing for unknown reasons, even after both parties in Congress had been demanding he release it.

Trump initially said he wanted to make sure Ukraine wasn't involved in corruption before releasing any money. Later he changed the story by saying he wanted Europe to give more money to Ukraine.

Trump's Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said that the extra $140 million came from the State Department but didn't give details. It gives the impression that Ukraine received a bonus from the Trump administration in return for agreeing to comply with a favor that was asked by Trump.

Steve Mnuchin’s efforts to spin Trump’s Ukraine scandal were a disaster
The treasury secretary is not a big fan of “details.”

Steve Mnuchin’s efforts to spin Trump’s Ukraine scandal were a disaster

    excerpt:

"In particular, Mnuchin was unable to explain a mysteriously large foreign aid payment to Ukraine, one that came weeks after the administration held up aid payments to the country altogether. He also struggled to account for why it’s appropriate for the Trump administration to attack a son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden for his international business dealings, while Trump and his children profit from businesses he still owns.

One cringe-inducing moment came on Meet the Press, when host Chuck Todd asked Mnuchin to explain why Ukraine was provided with $140 million more in US aid than initially expected. Todd asked Mnuchin to account for “how all of the sudden, when the [Ukraine] aid got released, more money showed up. Where did [it] come from? ... they got an additional $140 million they didn’t expect.” Mnuchin hemmed and hawed for about 20 seconds before trying to move on.

Todd was referencing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement earlier this month that his country received $140 million more than they expected from the United States — one that came weeks after any US government aid to Ukraine was held up, and at the end of a summer in which President Donald Trump and his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, repeatedly asked the Ukrainians to open a “corruption” investigation aimed at implicating Hunter Biden, a son of the former vice president. The Treasury Department oversees foreign aid payments, but Mnuchin’s answer was underwhelming.

“You’re getting into details,” Mnuchin said, declining to do so himself. He then alluded to Trump’s desire for Ukraine to investigate the Biden family and said, “these were not connected issues.”"

You know, because trump is stupid and can't see the forest for the trees, he is actually barking up the wrong tree.

Trump's dealings keep looking like the Stormy Daniels money funneling scheme.

Like the Stormy Daniels story, his dealings are murky and the sequence of initial details makes it look like something just isn't right.

As the story continues to unfold, Trump feels forced to make more revelations that he knew about it while still claiming he is innocent. In the Stormy Daniels case, Trump admitted on Fox that he knew about the payments but said he only knew about them 'later', as if that exonerated him.

Then Trump's personal attorney, Giuliani, goes on a half-baked media blitz trying to apologize for Trump by claiming that the crime he did wasn't really a crime. Giuliani's former role as a prosecutor ends up making him look like he is prosecuting Trump instead of defending him.

If they put Giuliani in jail all hell will break loose, because he's a billionaire, and they will have to be able to nail him to the cross twelve ways or stocks will go down. There's no point in owning congress if it doesn't get you a "Get Out of Jail Free" card.
