GOP in Senate confirm 107 of Trump's nominees.

They can now use a simple majority after they implemented the nuclear option.

Senate Republicans confirm more than 100 Trump nominees as government shutdown continues

    excerpt:

"The rule change allows for an unlimited number of nominees to be confirmed in a single batch, but includes several procedural hoops to jump through before a final confirmation vote.

Senate Republicans previously confirmed 48 of Trump’s picks last month. Among that batch were Kimberly Guilfoyle, who Trump tapped to be the U.S. ambassador to Greece, and Callista Gingrich, who was picked to be the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland."

Trump is calling for an investigation of Sen. Blumenthal.

Trump calls for investigation into sitting Democratic senator

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump lashed out Tuesday against Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, calling for him to be investigated for embellishing his military record after the lawmaker clashed with US Attorney General Pam Bondi during a congressional hearing."

At least Blumenthal has a military record. Trump doesn't.

And if Trump actually had a military record, he'd embellish it more than anyone.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/po...dates-rcna235640/rcrd90221?canonicalCard=true

    excerpt:

Schiff said Bondi also refused to answer questions about whether Tom Homan paid taxes on $50,000 in bribe money, about career prosecutors' finding insufficient evidence to charge former FBI Director James Comey and about whether she approved the firing of antitrust lawyers who disagreed with the Justice Department's settlement of its case against Hewlett-Packard's merger with Juniper Networks.

"This is supposed to be an oversight hearing in which members of Congress can get serious answers to serious questions," Schiff said.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/07/shutdown-republicans-disarray-00597018

    excerpt:

“If you’re Republicans, you have to get Dems to blink first,” said a person close to the White House who was granted anonymity to describe strategic conversations.

But Trump and Vought have not followed that strategy, seemingly preoccupied with punishing their political enemies and executing an ideological agenda targeting the federal workforce and programs.

Trump's intent to selectively back-pay furloughed workers.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/07/shutdown-republicans-disarray-00597018

    excerpt:

Barely two hours later, Trump sent a different message: “I would say it depends who we’re talking about,” he told reporters when asked about guaranteeing back pay. “For the most part, we’re going to take care of our people, but for some people they don’t deserve to be taken care of.”

    excerpt:

"In one stark example, Trump scrambled the congressional leaders’ messaging Monday when he told reporters in the Oval Office he would “like to see a deal made for great health care” and that he was “talking to Democrats about it.”

Within hours, Trump walked it back: “I am happy to work with the Democrats on their Failed Healthcare Policies, or anything else, but first they must allow our Government to re-open,” he wrote on Truth Social hours after his initial comments."

Trump's been talking for over ten years about his supposed big, beautiful, inexpensive, quality healthcare for everyone.

Donald Trump health update: Amid drooping mouth claims, White House makes decision

    excerpt:

Notably, Leavitt revealed that Trump is going to Walter Reed on Friday for his ‘routine yearly check up’. However, CNN reported that Trump had his yearly medical in April, which had declared him ‘fully fit’ to perform the duties of the presidency.

Trump's slated hospital visit was announced even as his video from the Antifa roundtable sparked fresh health concerns. A person shared a clip of the President captioned “Trump's mouth starts drooping as he struggles to stay awake during this antifa roundtable.”

Eckman is a Vietnam veteran. He knows a war zone. Trump doesn't.

Portland residents, workers reject Trump administration's perception of city | kgw.com

    excerpt:

Vietnam veteran Richard Eckman said he lives near the facility and has just one complaint.

"It's not bad down here. The only problem is the ICE building itself and the people that are, if you will, protecting it, but they're more of a problem than a solution," he said, adding that he's only bothered by the federal helicopters flying at night over his home.

On the Trump administration calling the city a "war zone," Eckman replied, "They've never seen a real war zone. It's that simple."

    https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10/08/us/trump-news

    excerpt:

"Colombians killed: President Gustavo Petro of Colombia said that his government believed one of the boats recently bombed by the United States in its campaign against alleged drug traffickers had been carrying Colombian citizens who were killed, a statement backed up by two U.S. officials. The boats were previously believed to involve only people from Venezuela. Meanwhile, Republicans in the Senate blocked a measure that would bar President Trump from using military force against boats in the Caribbean Sea, turning back an effort to check his power to wage war without authorization from Congress."

Trump's message to Bondi was supposed to be private.

White House Officials Admit Trump’s Public Screed Against Pam Bondi Was Supposed to Be Private Message: Report

    excerpt:

"Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, “same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.” Then we almost put in a Democrat supported U.S. Attorney, in Virginia, with a really bad Republican past. A Woke RINO, who was never going to do his job. That’s why two of the worst Dem Senators PUSHED him so hard. He even lied to the media and said he quit, and that we had no case. No, I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many lawyers, and legal pundits, say so. Lindsey Halligan is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot. We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT"

Trump is kicking hornet nests in Central and South America.

He needs a Secret Service that's much better than it was in Butler, PA.

For what I saw then, none of those secret service folks were too keen on shielding and taking a bullet for the emperor-to-be. They were like yeah yeah yeah, quit waving, dumbass, and get in the van.

Federal immigration officers wear masks, no name tags — now some drive cars without license plates

    excerpt:

“Whether it’s [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] or any other agency not identifying themselves, whether that is hiding their faces, hiding their license plates, it’s just a severe lack of accountability, because if you don’t know who they are, you can’t hold them accountable for abuses,” says Alexandra Block, director of the Criminal Legal Systems and Policing Project at the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois.

“It’s also a dangerous situation,” she says. “People don’t know that they are federal agents, and it’s an invitation to copycats who are bad actors kidnapping people because there’s no way to distinguish kidnappers from federal agents when they’re acting this way.”
