Trump team scrambles to rehire workers cut by DOGE to fill critical government roles excerpt: "The chaotic firings and rehiring are occurring in agencies across the government. IRS probationary workers who were fired for “performance” related reasons were told to show up to the office in May, according to The Washington Post. In February, the National Nuclear Safety Administration had to recall termination emails sent to at least 50 employees overseeing the nation’s nuclear stockpile."

Trump Called Musk ‘Big-Time Drug Addict,’ Said Physical Fight With Treasury Secretary Was ‘Too Much’ excerpt: "Musk also got into a physical confrontation with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent after Trump supported Bessent’s choice for acting IRS commissioner over Musk’s suggestion. The men began to “exchange insults” after the meeting with Trump and “Bessent brought up Musk’s claims that he would uncover more than $1 trillion in wasteful and fraudulent government spending, which Musk had not succeeded at doing.” Musk ended up shoving his shoulder into Bessent’s ribs “like a rugby player” and Bessent responded with blows, something Trump later said was “too much.” Toward the end of April, Musk announced he would retreat from D.C. to focus on his own companies."
It conjures up thoughts of Musk being punched in the eye during a fight with Trump's people. Musk had a black eye when appearing at the White House when he announced he was leaving DOGE.
Musk’s DOGE Goons Surreptitiously Transmitted Reams of White House Data Liam Archacki Sat, June 7, 2025 at 11:08 PM UTC Musk’s DOGE Goons Surreptitiously Transmitted Reams of White House Data excerpt: Elon Musk’s goons at the Department of Government Efficiency transmitted a large amount of data—all of it undetected—using a Starlink Wi-Fi terminal they installed on top of the White House, according to a new report. Starlink is a satellite Wi-Fi service owned and operated by Musk’s SpaceX. The DOGE goons installed it in mid-March with the sign-off of Donald Trump’s administration, but against concerns raised by security officials, according to The Washington Post.
Trump is using Section 12406 to federalize the California National Guard. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/07/us/trump-national-guard-deploy-rare.html excerpt: "It is the first time since 1965 that a president has activated a state’s National Guard force without a request from that state’s governor, according to Elizabeth Goitein, senior director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the Brennan Center for Justice, an independent law and policy organization. The last time was when President Lyndon B. Johnson sent troops to Alabama to protect civil rights demonstrators in 1965, she said."
That was fast. 2,000 National Guard deployed. Trump had the DC National Guard right next to him when his rioters were terrorizing members of Congress and while Pence was stranded in the basement of the Capitol. Trump did nothing. Trump also lied in a video the next day that he immediately activated the Guard on Jan. 6 when the violence started. He didn't.
ICE launches ‘military-style’ raids in Los Angeles: What we know excerpt: "California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a statement describing the operations as “cruel” and “chaotic”, adding that they are an attempt “to meet an arbitrary arrest quota”. All 15 members of the Los Angeles City Council issued a joint statement denouncing the raids. Some Trump administration officials, on the other hand, defended the actions and criticised local leaders for pushing back. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, for instance, suggested that Mayor Karen Bass was undermining federal law."
All that over a track meet. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/06/06/newsom-floats-withholding-federal-taxes-00393386 excerpt: "Trump has wielded federal funding as leverage to push its politics on California before. The president last month threatened to choke off the state’s cash flow if a transgender athlete participated in a state girls’ track meet."
To the disappointment of Trump, the track athlete, Hernandez, ended up winning the gold in the CA state track meet. Transgender athlete wins, shares state honors, creating questions about inclusion | EdSource excerpt: Hernandez, a junior at Jurupa Valley High in Southern California, was unflappable in the Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High School in Clovis, even when insulted or met with silence in the packed venue. She has “consistently displayed more dignity, maturity, and grace than the many adults, from the president on down, who chose to attack and bully her to score political points,” said Tony Hoang, executive director of Equality California, the state’s LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. “We could not be prouder of the way this brave student-athlete conducted herself on and off the track.”

He’s been stopped by Customs a couple of times before and quickly let go, he said, but the treatment during his recent returns from Cuba struck him as odd.

Makled was detained at the Detroit Metro Airport and asked to hand over his phone. Hasan Piker, a popular left-wing online streamer, said he was detained for hours at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago as agents asked him about his opinions on Trump, Gaza and other political topics."
White House Realizing That Elon Musk's Incompetence Caused Huge Problems for the Government excerpt: Over at the FDA, where at least 3,500 people lost their jobs as DOGE set its sights on the body that governs our food and drug safety, the vibes were somehow even worse. "They wanted to show they were gutting the government, but there was no thought about what parts might be worth keeping," explained one fired and rehired FDA staffer. "Now it feels like it was all just a game to them."

ICE has also re-arrested immigrants already in the removal process but not actively in detention and has gone after immigrants at their courtroom hearings and check-ins, a departure from the first Trump administration. “Those two taken together are a complete sea change we have never seen in the history of immigration enforcement in the United States,” said Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, a pro-immigration organization that has opposed much of Trump’s second-term actions."
Trump administration changes his official presidential portrait. The previous one that was made before he took office in Jan. 2025 looked like he was trying to replicate his mug shot in Atlanta, GA. In the new one he looks emotionally distressed and the background is black. The lighting is softer than the brash, overexposed previous 'mugshot-like' photo. In both of his second term portraits, his right eye looks drooping. He was smiling in his first term portrait and his face looked symmetric left-right. The background was bright with the American flag. The lighting overall was uniform and looked professionally done. White House releases new official Trump portrait. See it here.
