    Trump starts firing FAA workers.

Trump stated publicly that he thought Musk's young staffers, some as young as 19, would be better at handling the nation's air traffic.

Trump begins firings of FAA air traffic control staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has begun firing several hundred Federal Aviation Administration employees, upending staff on a busy air travel weekend and just weeks after a January fatal mid-air collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Probationary workers were targeted in late night emails Friday notifying them they had been fired, David Spero, president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists union, said in a statement."

Juliuanne Moore's picture book for children banned at military-run schools.

Julianne Moore 'Saddened' After Children's Book Banned by Trump Admin.

    excerpt:

“A memo sent to Defense Department schools obtained by the Guardian also demands that school documents use the word ‘sex’ not ‘gender,’ prohibits email signatures with personal pronouns, and instructs schools to stop celebrating cultural observances including Black History Month.”

By Sunday, news of the ban reached the Oscar-winning actress, whose first book, the semi-autobiographical children’s story Freckleface Strawberry, was published in 2007.

“It is a great shock for me to learn that my first book, Freckleface Strawberry, has been banned by the Trump Administration from schools run by the Department of Defense,” Moore wrote on social media. “It is a book I wrote for my children and for other kids to remind them that we all struggle, but are united by our humanity and our community.”

The idolatrous idiocy at the core of Musk's coup under Trump's nose | HUDSON

    excerpt:

"I was troubled during the second Trump inaugural so few observers were disturbed by the rogue’s gallery of the nation’s richest men seated immediately behind our re-elected president. Additional corporate titans, most prominently the "techbros" from Silicon Valley, were scattered behind the three wealthiest horsemen likely to deliver an economic apocalypse for the rest of us. Once the reality of Trump II began to feel weirder than fiction, the punditocracy alleged no sole private citizen has ever exercised as much influence over a democratic government as Elon Musk has. Not recently, to be sure, but it always pays to glance back at the Roman Empire for a precedent.

In the final years of the Roman Republic a consular triumvirate composed of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony and Crassus, the empire’s richest man, were elected to rule alongside the increasingly irrelevant Senate."

Today's triumvirs are Musk, Zuckerberg, and Bezos.

    Mark Antony - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

"Relations among the triumvirs were strained as the various members sought greater political power. Civil war between Antony and Octavian was averted in 40 BC, when Antony married Octavian's sister, Octavia. Despite this marriage, Antony carried on a love affair with Cleopatra, who bore him three children, further straining Antony's relations with Octavian. Lepidus was expelled from the association in 36 BC, and in 33 BC, disagreements between Antony and Octavian caused a split between the remaining Triumvirs. Their ongoing hostility erupted into civil war in 31 BC when Octavian induced the republic to declare war on Cleopatra and proclaim Antony a traitor. Later that year, Antony was defeated by Octavian's forces at the Battle of Actium. Antony and Cleopatra fled to Egypt where, having again been defeated at the Battle of Alexandria, they committed suicide.

With Antony dead, Octavian became the undisputed master of the Roman world. In 27 BC, Octavian was granted the title of Augustus, marking the final stage in the transformation of the Republic into a monarchy, with himself as the first Roman emperor."

    Mark Antony - Wikipedia

‘This is a coup’: Trump and Musk’s purge is cutting more than costs, say experts

    excerpt:

“After Musk reportedly spent close to $300m to help Trump get elected, Trump has been giving Musk what appears to be unprecedented access to the inner levers of government, including private and confidential information about individuals,” said Larry Noble, a former general counsel at the Federal Election Commission who now teaches law at American University.

“Musk and his followers can use that access to help Trump kill or neutralize congressionally created agencies and rules that serve and protect the public interest, while ensuring the government protects and serves the ability of the wealthy to grow their fortunes.”

Trump will probably have the military-run schools stacked with copies of Kash Patel's 'King Donald' book series which have been sold to various schools throughout the country.

‘This is a coup’: Trump and Musk’s purge is cutting more than costs, say experts

    excerpt:

“The firing of IG Paul Martin, a highly respected and experienced inspector general, on the day after his office released a critical report, risks sending a chilling message that is antithetical to IGs’ ability to conduct impactful independent oversight on behalf of the American taxpayer,” said the ex-defense department IG Robert Storch.

Storch, one of the 17 IGs Trump fired abruptly last month who has joined the lawsuit against the Trump administration, stressed more broadly that “IGs play an essential role in leading offices comprised of oversight professionals across the federal government to detect and deter waste, fraud, abuse and corruption.”

    The Musk-Trump coup.

‘This is a coup’: Trump and Musk’s purge is cutting more than costs, say experts

    excerpt:

“I think their claims that they’re going after waste, fraud and abuse is a complete smokescreen for their real intentions,” the Democratic senator Sheldon Whitehouse said.

Likening Trump’s firing of the IGs to “firing cops before you rob the bank”, Whitehouse stressed: “It’s pretty clear that what’s going on here is a very deliberate effort to create as much wreckage in the government as they can manage with a view to helping out the big Trump donors and special interests who find government obnoxious in various ways.”

Remarks By President Trump at the World Economic Forum

    excerpt:

"But Canada has been very tough to deal with over the years, and it’s not fair that we should have a $200 billion or $250 billion deficit. We don’t need them to make our cars, and they make a lot of them. We don’t need their lumber because we have our own forests, et cetera, et cetera. We don’t need their oil and gas. We have our — we have more than anybody."

If that's the case, why bother with Canada at all.

Trump says Canada needs the protection of the U.S., It doesn't have anything the U.S. needs, according to Trump.

Solar has taken off in red states. Trump’s funding freeze is causing panic

    excerpt:

By August 2024, $7.8bn in private investment for a host of clean energy projects including solar and battery production had come to Indiana, spurred in part by the promise of federal grants and local tax-abatement schemes.

But Trump has followed through on his election campaign promise to roll back clean energy initiatives, referring to Biden’s efforts as the “Green New Scam”.

Red states injured by Trump halting money for clean energy.

Solar has taken off in red states. Trump’s funding freeze is causing panic

    excerpt:

“We’ve been slavishly working on a plan since April 2023 that would provide solar energy to hundreds of households in two low- and moderate-income Columbus neighborhoods,” says Mullett. The project was expected to be rolled out in April, with previously approved funding thought to have been made available by 14 February.

“Unless the Trump administration makes a 180-degree turn on funding, that expectation will obviously not be met.”

The way Fox writes its headlines. It outright admits that Trump is using the DOJ for political purposes and retaliation.

The latest is that Trump wants the DOJ case against Mayor Adams revoked because he needs Adams for his anti-immigration agenda. That's not a valid reason to stop a criminal investigation.

Neither is the accusation by Trump's supporters that the criminal case against Adams was due to Biden supposedly being upset with Adams' immigration policies and retaliating against Adams (that's what Trump is doing to NY now).

Trump's firings of independent agency heads put 90-year-old Supreme Court precedent in crosshairs

    excerpt:

"Washington — President Trump's firings of the members of independent agencies and boards have prompted a string of legal fights that could set the Supreme Court up to reconsider and potentially overturn a 90-year-old decision that shields certain executive branch officials from being removed after political shifts in the White House.

Since returning to the presidency, Mr. Trump has terminated the heads of the National Labor Relations Board and the Merit Systems Protection Board, as well as the director of the Office of Government Ethics and the special counsel, Hampton Dellinger, who oversees the office that investigates whistleblower complaints."
