Even Jeff Bezos made a pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago.

Washington DC steels itself for Trump’s ‘takeover’: ‘We’re in for a bumpy ride’

    excerpt:

Hatcher-Mays commented: “This is not a knock on any of the reporters who work at the Post. I know they’re independent and all great but it’s going to be a tough uphill climb to report out the various misdeeds of this administration when the owner of your paper is more interested playing footsie with a person who’s been impeached twice, is under indictment and has no interest in the product of democracy.”

Giuliani ordered to appear for contempt hearing for failure to turn over his assets to election workers Freeman and Moss.

Rudy Giuliani ordered to appear at contempt hearing in January over failure to give up assets

    excerpt:

"Lawyers for the election workers who won a $148 million defamation judgment said in court papers that Giuliani has failed to turn over the lease to the apartment, a Mercedes, various watches and jewelry, a signed Joe DiMaggio shirt and other baseball mementos, among other items."

Giuliani says he can't find the title for his Mercedes and can't find the deed for his condo in NY. In October 2024 he was ordered to give those properties to election workers Freeman and Moss who won a defamation suit against him.

Giuliani has a trial in January 2025 for another defamation suit that Freeman and Moss have brought against him because of his ongoing lies about the 2020 election and false remarks he has continued to make about the two women..

Giuliani ruined his life to promote Trump's election lies.

Alberta's premier responds to Trump's trolling by saying Canada's oil helps make America wealthy

    excerpt:

Canada’s ambassador to Washington, Kirsten Hillman, has said the U.S. had a $75 billion trade deficit with Canada last year. But she noted a third of what Canada sells into the U.S. are energy exports and said there is a deficit when oil prices are high.

“We are one-tenth the size of the United States so a balanced trade deal would mean per capita we are buying 10 times more from the U.S. than they are buying from us. If that’s his metric we will certainly engage on that,” Hillman told The AP recently.

Bezos could end up with a position in Trump's administration like the other 13 billionaires Trump has gathered for his second term.

Trump used to call him 'Jeff Bozo'.

Trump threw a debt-limit grenade into spending talks.

Trump doesn't want to deal with the debt limit in his new term, so he's trying to have the limit eliminated at the last minute for his upcoming presidency before Biden leaves office.

A debt limit will hamper Trump on his lavish spending and tax cuts that increased the national debt by $8 trillion during his first term, the debt he said he would reduce to zero in eight years.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/19/business/trump-spending-talks-debt-limit.html

    excerpt:

"But now the problem is waiting for Mr. Trump. As he prepares to push an agenda of tax cuts and border security, Mr. Trump fears that a debt limit fight next year could interfere. His plans are expected to cost trillions of dollars, much of which will most likely need to come from borrowed funds. A drawn-out debt limit fight next year could force Mr. Trump and Republicans to bow to the demands of Democrats and could consume the congressional calendar."

Trump's chaotic behavior causes uncertainty about inflation, which adds uncertainty to whether the interest rates should be lowered, which affects people's confidence in the stock market.

Trump was poised to inherit a strong economy. Then things got rocky and he added to the uncertainty

    excerpt:

But Powell stressed that there is a lack of clarity about what Trump would do. It’s unknown whether he would deliver on tariff threats against Canada, Mexico, China and Europe. Nor is there much official guidance on how Trump would fund tax cuts that could add $4.6 trillion to deficits over a decade.

“Some did identify policy uncertainty as one of the reasons for their writing down more uncertainty around inflation,” Powell said. “The point about uncertainty is it’s kind of common sense thinking that when the path is uncertain you go a little bit slower.”

Powell added for emphasis about what happens with uncertainty: “It’s not unlike driving on a foggy night or walking into a dark room full of furniture. You just slow down.”

Republicans have only about a five seat majority in the House that has been whittled down by Trump using House members for his upcoming administration.

Illnesses, deaths, and defections could reduce it further.

The act of Musk running more of them out of office for not getting his way could cost them control of the House in the November 2026 elections.

Trump thinks excessive fracking is going to bring inflation down.

During the 2024 campaign, he made duck noises into the microphone at a gathering (we're gonna Frack! Frack! Frack!)

Trump was poised to inherit a strong economy. Then things got rocky and he added to the uncertainty

    excerpt:

Democrats were also quick to seize on the seeming Republican dysfunction, with Rep. Suzan DelBene, D-Wash., saying, ”Trump’s made a lot of promises, but he’s also going to be accountable for the impact he’s having on families.”

“I guess Elon Musk is making the decisions now, because Republicans in Congress are incapable of making decisions on their own,” DelBene said in an interview. “They just wait for someone to tell them what to do.”

Trump thinks the post-pandemic economy is like the booming economy he inherited in 2017 when he had the luxury to stress it with his chaos without damaging it badly.

He also had rational people around him during his first term acting as guard rails on his chaotic behavior. Such people won't be in his second term.

Expert says '121,000 votes in 3 swing states' were key in Harris' defeat
Shift in these votes across Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — all swing states — would have produced a different outcome with Harris winning over Trump, says David Schultz.
