    https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/12/06/trump-ends-american-century-00192236

    excerpt:

"The next several decades would prove Luce right, as the United States emerged from World War II as one of two global superpowers and, arguably, the world’s preeminent cultural and economic force. Luce, who was a Republican, intended his broadside to serve as a template for conservative internationalism — in effect, a powerful response to the party’s isolationist, America First wing. But this concept — of America as a friendly goliath, the “Good Samaritan of the entire world,” promoting democracy, capitalism, trade and international order — guided the thinking of most policymakers and politicians across the political spectrum for the better part of a century.

    Until now.

Donald Trump’s second presidential victory represents a sharp break, and perhaps a permanent one, with the American Century framework. It’s a framework that rested on four key pillars:

A rules-based economic order that afforded the U.S. free access to vast international markets.

A guarantee of safety and security for its allies, backed up by American military might.

An increasingly liberal immigration system that strengthened America’s economy and complemented military and trade partnerships with the rest of the non-Communist world.

And finally, in Luce’s words, a “picture of an America” that valued — and exported to the rest of the world — “its technical and artistic skills. Engineers, scientists, doctors … developers of airlines, builders of roads, teachers, educators.”"

Poll: Republicans reverse views on economy and election fraud after Trump’s win; much smaller shifts among Democrats

    excerpt:

"Meanwhile, a mere 13% of Republicans said in a December 2021 Yahoo News/YouGov poll that the 2020 election — which Trump lost to Joe Biden, then tried to overturn — had been free and fair. Last month, just 27% of Republicans predicted this year’s contest would be free and fair.

Yet now that Trump has won, a full 89% of Republicans say the 2024 election cleared that bar."

Vance's excuse was that he had to lie to help people see the truth.

"If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do," he told CNN.

Trump Escalates His Bizarre Canada Joke in Weirdest Way Possible | The New Republic

    excerpt:

NPR reports that Trump’s proposed tariffs would likely raise the cost of groceries and gasoline for American consumers. The Brookings Institute notes that the tariffs could be even more ruinous considering “approximately 50% of U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico is driven by supply chains” in which products cross borders repeatedly during their production."

Trump calls for unity and success.

Trump details sweeping changes he’ll carry out on day one and beyond in an exclusive interview

    excerpt:

He’s heard from Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post: “We’re having dinner,” he said.

“People like me now, you know?” he said, adding: “It’s different than the first — you know, when I won the first time, I wasn’t nearly as popular as this. And one thing that’s very important, in terms of the election, I love that I won the popular vote, and by a lot.”

Trump has talked previously about pardoning his rioters on a case-by-case basis, but the easiest approach for him is to pardon all of them, or nearly all, at one time.

Trump is still spreading all of his old lies.

Venzuela supposedly sending all its prison inmates to the U.S.

His tariffs supposedly cost the U.S. nothing.

The 2020 election supposedly being stolen from him.

The U.S. supposedly the only country that has birthright citizenship.

Crime in the U.S. supposedly at an all-time high and caused significantly by migrants.

He supposedly saved Obamacare and NATO (after trying to destroy it).

His rioters at the Capitol supposedly had no choice but to riot.

The Jan. 6 committee members are supposedly the real criminals, not his rioters.

The Jan. 6 committee supposedly destroyed all its evidence.

In June 2024 Trump called for Joe Biden, Liz Cheney, and others he doesn't like to be put in jail.

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/02/politics/trump-liz-cheney-military-tribunal/index.html

    excerpt:

Former President Donald Trump amplified posts on social media calling for a televised military tribunal for former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney and the jailing of top elected officials, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“ELIZABETH LYNNE CHENEY IS GUILTY OF TREASON,” one post created by another user that Trump amplified on his social media website Truth Social on Sunday reads. “RETRUTH IF YOU WANT TELEVISED MILITARY TRIBUNALS.”

Cheney responded on X, “Donald - This is the type of thing that demonstrates yet again that you are not a stable adult—and are not fit for office.”

A separate post Trump amplified on Truth Social Sunday includes photos of 15 former and current elected officials and says, “THEY SHOULD BE GOING TO JAIL ON MONDAY NOT STEVE BANNON!”

During a Meet The Press interview this weekend, Trump seemed to soften his stance on jailing Biden. He said it was up to Pam Bondi who he has nominated to be attorney general.

He hasn't softened his stance on Liz Cheney. He still wants her in jail.

Donald Trump Tells Meet The Press That Liz Cheney And Other January 6th Committee Members Should Go To Jail

    excerpt:

Welker asked Trump about his previous pledge to appoint a special prosecutor to go after Joe Biden.

“Where did I say that?” Trump said.

Welker noted that he posted on Truth Social on June 12, 2023.

“Are you going to do that? Are you going to go after Joe Biden?” Welker asked him.

Trump told her that he was “really looking to make our country successful. I’m not looking to go back into the past. Retribution will be through success.”

After being wrong about all of that, Trump has signs at his rallies that say "Trump Was Right About Everything."

The 2024 Nixon-Harris election has parallels to the 1968 Nixon-Humphrey election.

Like Biden, Johnson dropped out of the race and his VP, Humphrey, lost by a small percentage.

Nixon beat Humphrey by 0.7% and didn't win a majority.

    https://www.npr.org/2024/12/03/nx-s...ial-election-popular-vote-trump-kamala-harris

    excerpt:

"Just in New York and California, Harris was off Biden's totals by almost 3 million votes. And most of that was not vote-switching. In New York, Harris was off by about 900,000 votes, but Trump only gained about 200,000 from his 2020 total. In California, Harris got roughly 1.9 million fewer votes than Biden, but Trump only got about 60,000 more."

Trump, Kid Rock, and Musk will be trying to run America for the next four years.

Trump's down-and-outers think that those people are going to help them.

Tower wasn't confirmed for defense secretary when he was competent for the job, outside of his drinking issues.

Hegseth isn't even competent from the start, yet Trump and his loyalists are trying to make him acceptable by saying he will stop drinking if he becomes defense secretary.
