Money source for Trump after SEC approves merger. Trump's Truth Social nears Wall Street listing that could yield millions excerpt: “I never thought it would get to this point,” said Julian Klymochko, CEO of Accelerate Financial Technologies, which operates a fund focused on so-called blank-check companies like Digital World that seek to acquire private companies to take them public. “Deals die on the vine, but this one somehow managed to survive despite seemingly everything going against it.” The SEC’s green light is a surprising turn for the beleaguered deal — injecting new hope into Trump’s next act in business, just as the presumptive GOP nominee’s campaign against President Joe Biden heats up. Shares in Digital World Acquisition Corp., or DWAC, skyrocketed more than 25 percent on the news Thursday.
Fani Willis essentially being put on trial instead of Trump. Judge threatens to dismiss Trump prosecutor Fani Willis's testimony in dramatic hearing excerpt: "During a dramatic hearing, Judge Scott McAfee warned Willis that he would have to strike her testimony from the record if she refused to answer the questions as asked. At one point, McAfee called a five-minute recess after Willis shouted “It is a lie!” In response to the defense’s claim that she lived with the prosecutor in question. “You all know what professionalism looks like; we all know what decorum looks like,” McAfee said when the hearing resumed. Lawyers for co-defendants of Trump said that because the prosecutor Willis hired, Nathan Wade, has been paid more than $650,000 since he was hired in 2021 and has spent money on vacations with Willis in that time period, their relationship created a financial conflict of interest. The argument is that Willis financially benefitted from the case against Trump because it paid Wade’s salary, which he used to pay for dates and vacations. Willis said she reimbursed him for portions of the trips in question."
Trump must pay $354.9 million. Barred from NY business for 3 years. UPDATE 6-Donald Trump must pay $354.9 million, barred from NY business for 3 years, judge rules
Trump already used up most of his two PACs to pay for $29 million in legal fees in the second half of 2023. The $438 million amount in judgments against him in the Carroll cases and the NY civil fraud case is about 15 times greater. Can Trump pay? What if he doesn’t? Here’s what to know about Trump’s massive civil judgments. excerpt: "Using his political vehicles to pay would be far trickier. There is a general ban on using campaign donations for personal uses unrelated to a campaign or the official duties of an officeholder. And as for his political action committees, Richard Pildes, a professor of constitutional law at New York University law school, said they can’t pay Trump’s judgments. “Campaign funds cannot be used for that purpose regardless of whether the PAC is the decision-maker,” he wrote in an email. Besides, Trump’s PACs may not be able to afford the judgments, since he has been using them to pay the many lawyers defending him across his criminal and civil cases. Two of Trump’s PACS spent $29 million in legal consulting and legal fees in the second half of last year, leaving only $5 million in his leadership PAC’s coffers. The Republican National Committee doesn’t have the same ban on the personal use of funds as Trump’s campaign committee, but paying Trump’s judgments could jeopardize its nonprofit status."
Article about how Trump will pay the $438 million in penalties. How will Donald Trump pay the $438m he owes in penalties from civil trials?
Trump and his supporters in Congress should be pleased. Ukraine troops withdraw from frontline city Avdiivka excerpt: "Ukraine faces mounting pressure on the eastern front because of ammunition shortages, with a $60 billion US military aid package held up in Washington since last year by congressional wrangling."
Trump has one trick up his sleeve to dodge crushing NY fraud judgment excerpt: "He hasn’t needed much help in Florida. He appears to have a willing ally in Judge Aileen Cannon in the secret documents case who, so far, has either ruled in Trump’s favor or, in ruling against him, has left the door open to giving Trump what he wants later. What Trump wants is delay. Judge Cannon is likely to give it to him. In Washington, Trump claims that he is so immune from criminal responsibility that he could have used Seal Team Six to assassinate his political opponents without consequences. Trump has bought himself time with this issue, including asking for more time to petition the Supreme Court. If he fails on this issue, you can expect a series of other claims—each one holding things up. In Georgia, Trump’s seedy collaboration with the National Enquirer has combined with his connoisseurship of the courtroom to deliver us a Jerry Springer Show moment with Trump and his allies examining the love life of District Attorney Fani Willis on live television. Once again, Trump has come out a winner, smothering the main event and making Willis, Judge Scott McAfee, and the judicial system look ridiculous."
Trump Fraud Trial Penalty Will Exceed $450 Million excerpt: "Mr. Trump claimed under oath last year that he was sitting on more than $400 million in cash, but between Justice Engoron’s $355 million punishment and the $83.3 million payout to Ms. Carroll, that might all be gone. If so, Mr. Trump might have to sell one of his properties or another asset to cover the payouts, in what would be a remarkable blow to the former president."
The way things are going with Trump's mind and behavior, during one of his upcoming rallies he may suddenly start singing the show tune 'Everything's Coming Up Roses' like Ethel Merman. Such a song is symbolic of the fantasies Trump is having by saying that he's been 'winning' all of these cases, like he said to a reporter last week.
UPDATE 9-Trump hit with $354.9 million penalty, 3-year ban in NY civil fraud case excerpt: "Engoron canceled his prior ruling from September ordering the "dissolution" of companies that control pillars of Trump's real estate empire, saying on Friday that this was no longer necessary because he is appointing an independent monitor and compliance director to oversee Trump's businesses."
The financial stress on Trump is now significant. How he will produce nearly a half-billion dollars on short order remains to be seen. He might have the $400 million in cash that he said he had during a deposition in 2023. If not, he will need to sell stock or property or use a bond with some of his property as collateral. He's not going to garner that amount of money from his MAGA faithful, his personal PACs, or even the RNC if he commandeers it.
The RNC is already in bad shape financially. Even before he commandeers the RNC (assuming he does), some donors already don't want to contribute to the GOP knowing that Trump will blow the money. It will likely damage numerous GOP candidates across the board in 2024.
Shit, 90% of Alabama will send him all their social security to "help". My former boss had a 9x11 portrait of tRump on the credenza behind his desk on every video teams call....even had a light shining on it.....then in the last year, it disappeared. Funny - I was going to put a big blow up of Obama or Hillary on my desk...but I figured that may have made a career limiting statement.
