    Prosecutors relied on charges of tax evasion before RICO was enacted. It was difficult to prosecute someone like Capone who relied on verbal instructions to a group of people to commit crimes at his behest.

    Jack Smith's investigation is continuing with testimony from Trump's associates like Corcoran, the people Trump has tenaciously tried to prevent from testifying.

    It's critical to hear from such people to know if they were directed to engage in acts that may be criminal by Trump, who relies on verbal orders and leaves little tangible evidence (paperwork, emails, texts).

    In an interview, Vincent Bugliosi once elaborated on how convicting Manson was contingent on proving that he directed his followers to commit homicide. Bugliosi remarked that the words 'Helter Skelter' on the walls of the house where the homicides occurred was tantamount to Manson's fingerprints. It was part of what was needed to convict Manson and in an era before RICO became established, which later aided in the prosecution of people who direct crimes but leave little tracks to use as evidence.

    Trump in his post-presidency has used RICO to try to file suits against a multitude of people he doesn't like, such as Clinton and the DNC. His RICO suit was dismissed by the court in 2022. Moreover, Trump's attorneys were sanctioned by the court for filing frivolous suits and fined $50,000 in November 2022.

    The act of surrendering must be terrible for Trump to swallow.

    The other act that enrages him is concession;. He exploded at a journalist at the Thanksgiving day press gathering in 2020 who asked him if he would finally concede the election to Biden after the recounts failed.
