Sherrod Brown is needed right where he is at. He knows this, that's why he never followed through last time. If he left, Ohio would be a permanent Deep Red State voting bloc.
It seems that the republican plan is to complain. They never offer any solutions. Making this country a theocracy is not a solution.
Top election officials in Arizona county resign amid ‘nasty’ threats, accusations over Trump loss excerpt: "Two top election officials in Yavapai County, Ariz., are resigning amid ongoing threats and accusations by supporters of former President Donald Trump, who still won’t accept that he lost the 2020 election. On Friday, County Recorder Leslie Hoffman told The Associated Press that she has accepted another job at a different county and that her last day will be July 22. Lynne Constabile, who has served as the country’s elections director since July 2004, is also leaving for the same reason, Hoffman said. Her last day will be July 8. “A lot of it is the nastiness that we have dealt with,” said Hoffman, who was elected as county recorder in 2012. Her job is to keep public records and oversee voter registration and early voting, according to the state’s Citizens Clean Elections Commission."
Accounts of Trump angrily demanding to go to Capitol on January 6 circulated in Secret Service over past year - CNNPolitics excerpt: "“He had sort of lunged forward – it was unclear from the conversations I had that he actually made physical contact, but he might have. I don’t know,” the source said. “Nobody said Trump assaulted him; they said he tried to lunge over the seat – for what reason, nobody had any idea.” The employee said he’d heard about the incident multiple times as far back as February 2021 from other agents, including some who were part of the presidential protective detail during that time period but none of whom were involved in the incident. The source added that agents often recounted stories of Trump’s fits of anger, including the former President throwing and breaking things. “Not just plates,” the source added, a reference to how Hutchinson testified this week that she saw ketchup on the wall and a porcelain plate shattered on the floor of the White House dining room after Trump had thrown his lunch at the wall upon hearing about then-Attorney General William Barr telling a media outlet there was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...-cassidy-hutchinson-testimony-secret-service/ excerpt: "On one end of Pennsylvania Avenue, Trump unsuccessfully cajoled his agents to drive him to Capitol Hill, where he would have joined a mob of his supporters descending violently on the grand symbol of democracy. Some 45 minutes later on the other end, Vice President Mike Pence refused a request of his security detail to get into an armored car — concerned, according to testimony, that his protectors would take him away from the Capitol and prevent him from carrying out his duty to oversee the final count of electoral college votes."
Article from June 16, 2022. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...ences-terrifying-day/?itid=lk_inline_manual_7 excerpt: "Jacob testified that when they reached the garage, the Secret Service ordered the group into vehicles. He and others dutifully piled in but Pence refused, afraid the security detail might speed him to safety before he could object. “The vice president did not want to take any chance that the world would see the vice president of the United States fleeing the United States Capitol,” he said. Photographs newly released by the committee showed Pence in the garage well into the 4 p.m. hour, making calls to congressional and military leaders. One photo showed Pence staring intently at his phone, as his daughter Charlotte looked on. The committee said the photo depicts Pence watching a video posted by Trump to Twitter at 4:17 p.m., in which Trump urged supporters to “go home” — but added, “We love you. You’re very special.” Jacob testified that never once during the hours Pence was in danger did Trump call to inquire about his safety. Asked how Pence and his wife, Karen, reacted to Trump’s silence, Jacob said: “With frustration.” Trump did not talk to Pence for five days, until Jared Kushner told Short that Trump would like to see Pence, The Post has reported."
Jan. 6 showed two identities of Secret Service: Gutsy heroes vs. Trump yes-men Testimony by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson put a spotlight on agents tasked with protecting then-President Trump By Carol D. Leonnig July 2, 2022 at 6:00 a.m. EDT https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...-cassidy-hutchinson-testimony-secret-service/ excerpt: "Keith Kellogg, a Trump aide who then was working as Pence’s national security adviser, had stressed to Ornato that the vice president intended on staying inside the Capitol to finish the job, according to the book “I Alone Can Fix It.” He told Ornato the Secret Service detail had better not try to forcibly remove Pence from the building. “I know you guys too well,” Kellogg said. “You’ll fly him to Alaska if you have a chance. Don’t do it.” Ornato, through a Secret Service spokesperson, has previously denied that this conversation took place. If Ornato and Engel testify before the Jan. 6 committee, they could face a wide range of questions not only about Trump’s behavior that day but more broadly concerning the extent to which they served the interests of the presidency — or the man who was president."
Pence was acting as the president while Trump was enabling his rioters at the Capitol. Pence was the one who ordered National Guard troops. The governors of VA and MD ordered their guard to DC. Trump could have mobilized the DC guard much quicker being commander-in-chief of the DC guard. Trump lied the day after the riot in a video when he said that he had ordered the National Guard to the Capitol. He also lied about it in other ways by contending he wanted 10,000 troops at the Capitol in advance of the riot (that he incited and was derelict in his response) but that his request (which never happened) was supposedly rejected by Pelosi (who wouldn't have the authority to reject such a request).
Another lie on top of that one. Trump was interested in protecting his rioters from what he thought might be counter-protests at the Capitol. He has shown no interest in protecting Pelosi or other members of Congress. He threw Pence under the bus and didn't bother calling him during the riot, saying that he figured Pence was safe with his Secret Service detail. He showed no interest in knowing that some of his protesters were armed. Trump reportedly said that he knew armed supporters of him wouldn't hurt him.
The fact that Trump acknowledged he didn't call Pence during the riot shows that he didn't want Pence or anyone else interfering with his riot.
The humiliating image that surfaced reportedly was taken around the 4 to 5 pm hour when Trump finally told his rioters to go home (while telling them that he loved them). It's a scene that would have been expected if Pence had been threatened by a foreign terrorist. Pence and his daughter were on the concrete in a loading area of the basement for a couple hours. The frustrated look of Pence's daughter sums up the moment. Reports indicate that Trump wanted to visit the inside of the House chamber during the riot.
Fanone calls for Trump arrest. Michael Fanone Calls for Trump Arrest: ‘If They Indict Him, He Should be Tried’ excerpt: "Former D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone, told CNN’s Jim Acosta that former President Donald Trump should be jailed based on evidence uncovered in the January 6th committee hearings. Fanone was nearly killed during the Capitol riot on January 6th, as rioters pulled him to the ground, beat him with pipes, and tased him. The former officer suffered a mild heart attack and a concussion as a result, among other injuries. Fanone has been a vocal critic of those seeking to undermine the dangerous riot, delivering an emotional testimony before the House select committee, investigating the events of that day."

The Anthony Atamanuik sketches usually had Trump going off the deep end, such as having a fantasy or throwing a tantrum because he couldn't have what he wanted. Atamanuik's sketches were a forerunner to the insurrection at the Capitol.
